1-day.com.au Complaint

I've tried contacting 1-day via email but their responses have been pretty generic and useless. Can anyone recommend what the next step to take might be? I was considering fair trading, but i don't even know what 1-days ABN is and i doubt they have a contact number. I've heard you can call up the bank or something?

As for my complaint i purchased some pringles from the mystery sale they had. They were all broken to the point you would have to use a spoon if you want to eat them. Also they emailed me saying they guarantee to send an item worth $11+ but they just had it for sale recently for 9.99. It's more about principle here. If they are going to have a mystery $10 item they shouldn't be sending out something worth $9.99 that i could of bought outright and avoided the "mystery"

This is how they have responded so far:

Me - Regarding order 46xxxx I recently purchased 3 x random bags of crap. Whilst it's all a bit of fun one of the things i received was a Box of 6 x pringles tubes. I have seen this product on your site before for $9.99 and under $20 for two packs. I am bitterly dissapointed as this item is not even worth the $10 i paid. In addition all the pringles are cracked. I'd like a refund or an altenate item sent. Cheers

Them - Thank you for contacting us and for the feedback. I can confirm the product you have received is correct. Please note this is a lucky dip sale. Due to the nature of this sale, it is hard to please every single customer and I can fully understand that this might not be suitable for you. Unfortunately as per the website on the day of sale we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges. Alternatively you could look at regifting or onselling the product you have received.Apologies for the inconvenience

Me - Then i sent them an email asking for a refund or a different item sent.

Them - Thank you for your email. I can confirm that all items that where sent out on the Bag of Crap had an RRP of $11 upwards. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

I think it's quite hilarious that they suggested re-gifting pringles that i obviously have opened to know that they are cracked and in pieces. Also that they guarantee an item to have an RRP of at least $11, even though they sell it below RRP sounds like SCAM.

  • Yeah, that's piss-poor…I'd be tempted to take it up with Fair Trading just on principle too! Take some photos/video of the open packets for evidence!

I stopped dealing with 1-Day because they were looking to emulate COTD…unfortunately it looks like they've succeeded! :/

  • I dunno, quoting RRP is always misleading, but as an Ozbargainer I would hope you're pretty savvy to those tricks.

I mean, technically, 6 tubes of Pringles would have an RRP over $11. 6 tubes of busted Pringles might be a different story, but then you did willingly purchase a 'Bag of Crap'. Is this a case of your expectations being a little high?

Imagine how much worse the 'Bag of Crap' could have been…

    • I agree, your case is over the faulty product rather than the deal itself.

You may not be happy with the deal, but (IMO) it was valid had the product not been damaged.

      • your case is over the faulty product rather than the deal itself.

but it is faulty? the pringles containers still had the same weight of chips in the container, they were still sealed, and still edible.

Also, he purchased "a bag of crap", so OP bought an accurately described item.

        • If they had arrived without being damaged i probably wouldn't care. Then to rub it in they had this on 1-day a few days later.

So they sell it for $9.99 but their RRP is obviously higher. It's a pretty dodgy tactic. The margin is minimul but they could and possibly are doing it on a bigger level.

Example - Candle RRP $15, they sell it for $2 but send it to you in a "bag of crap" that you paid $10 for.

i think you should cut your losses and move on.

first of all, you bought "a bag of crap". So you can't say the item was not as described.

Secondly, the RRP for a single pringles container is probably $3+ each. So you can't really claim the RRP of $11 is bad.

Finally, it's going to cost more than the value of the item to book it in for small claims, even if you did recover the item.

So yeah, sorry to say it, but it sucks, and you should move on. I never buy any of those lucky dips for this reason

    • I'm not sure if you realise this, but small claims court is not really an option that one would use first in this instance. It is meant for a somewhat different purpose:

      http://www.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/Lawlink/lawaccess/ll_lawassist…

There is ample provision in the TPA to cover the sale of faulty/misleading goods.

It can't hurt for the OP to at least raise the flag with FT just in case they can negotiate something without incurring costs. Sometimes it isn't about the money…as stated, it can be about the principle!

Sorry, i should have been a bit more specific. I mean the CTTT or whatever his state equivalent is.

I definitely won't be taking it that far. Maybe i'll put in a fair trading complaint but it's a lot of effort for not much to gain. Hopefully it will be a good warning to other people not to buy any of the "bag of crap" or "mystery sales" because they'll claim RRP.

broken to the point you would have to use a spoon if you want to eat them

    I lol'ed

    • I poured them into a bowl and less than 10 were still in tact. When my little cousin came over i gave him a spoon and he was eating them haha.

  • You didn't just get the pringles, you had the thrill and excitement of opening a mystery box!!

    • Mystery box: $10
      Thermonuclear WTF: Priceless!
