Ditto, but I'll worry about minor technicality when I receive the set I just ordered.

    Hope it works.

  • $27.12 to Melbourne via PayPal.

Should've checked if compatible with Xbox 360, if not oh well

    • +2

why wont it be? it works just like a normal lan cable except over your power wires. The speed will be much slower thou. depending on the noise on ur line

    • it'll work

    • Just for online access for your xbox? Wouldnt you be better off with a wireless network adapter?

  • +3

amazing deal - been waiting for cheap EOP solution as too many concrete walls in my place to get good wifi in the bedroom

    thanks!

  • +1

    done and done
now off to bank deposit =)

  • Thanks for sharing! Just bought one!

  • +5

I have these, They dont really work at all. If the two power points are on the same spur they work. If it has to go back to the main DB and then off to another room, the reliability is about 0. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

  • -5

    Great deal!! I've orders 15 :)

    • -1

and sold them on ebay for 50 bucks each…. making a profit of 4 million dollars???

      pfft - broden..

    • -1

if you order 15 at a time, you only get a discount on 1 (I hope you realise that)

      • +3

        I hope they don't.

        • ha.. touche (how do i do the funny thing on the "e")

        • +2

          é

        • show off! :P

how do i actually do the e with the acute accent?

        • I was going to say "thanks brue" (I often hear my south african friends saying that to each other as a term of endearment)
and also because I thought it would have an accent (and i can demonstrate my new skill)

but THEN - I looked it up on urban dictionary… and realised you might take offence.

          A) Parody of the word "blue" with a Japanese (or Asian) accent, replacing "L"s for "R"s.

Used largely by nerdy white kids when making fun of Asian friends.

The only way to beat the spoken color puzzle in "Brain Age" for the Nintendo DS.
White kid One "What color is the sky?"
          White Kid Two "BRUE!!!"

          B) when the blue water in the toilet from the toilet puck mixes with brown poo.
          BRUE
man, that water turned a pretty brue!

          C) A midget who is angry at the world because even though his penis is in proportion with his body, it is smaller than an average midget penis. In other words, a midgets, midget penis.
I heard that Evan has a brue in the pants. Pour guy, probably will never find love.

dr_rusko , what I do realise is, it says "ONLY 1 per order" not "ONLY 1 per customer"
Which means you order one, get the discount, pay for it… go back and order another one, get the discount, pay for it… :)

    • LoL calm down guys.. I actually only ordered 2 (1 for me, 1 for my sister).

      • +10

        Is her name Brodina? ;)

  • TPG IPTV doesn't work over wireless, hope can work over PowerLine.

    • Actually it does work over wireless, I had it running for a long time.

      • I have a Billion 7800n, does IPTV work over this model wirelessly?

        • Sorry not sure as I was using it over a Siemens Speedstream 4200 modem + a TP-LINK 1043ND router.

Knowing Billion's reputation though, it should work.

You have to limit the packet size for wireless I believe (it's somewhere on whirlpool, might be called the multicast rate)

I then set up the official TPG IPTV DLNA server program (also on whirlpool somewhere, called t_dlna), and was streaming the channels to my TV over wireless.

  • Thanks OP, bought!
Cost me $27.12 AUD inc 2.5% surcharge for paypal.

  • Great deal even if the final price isn't listed in the title or body. Where's a mod when you need one?

  • dammit!
just got 500mbps kit for $130ish.

    netcomm.. works perfectly btw.

  • Don't know if I will need this but ordered anyway :)

  • +8

uh.. guys… what did i just buy???

    • +6

      A bargain!

    • Ethernet over power line kit. It let's you use the electrical lines of your home as Ethernet cables. You plug one end into a socket near your modem or router and another into a socket near a computer.

Usually this is considered as a solution for weak wifi, (too many walls between router and computer) not as a preferred method of networking. As others have said, your mileage can vary and in some circumstances, might not even work for you.

  • Good work.

  • Not great reviews be warned!

  • these will work well for my media center that is running on wireless

  • +1

Some fact: 200mbps is slow speed. Most WiFi routers support upto 500mbps. Otherwise some Ethernet supports 1000mbps. Please note 8mbps (megabits) = 1 MB/s (megabyte). With the NBN rolling out (in 2-3 years for some people), we'll have access to 1gbps = 1/8th GB/s (128 MB/s). However for less than $30 and to enable internet access to hard to reach places - i guess this would be fine. Plus who even needs 200mbps commonly. Should be plenty to do HD streaming on a local network.

    • +5

fact: for $27 bucks, they are worth a try and perfectly capable of streaming files to media players if the wiring permits.

    • wireless cant go thru concrete very well.

    • You're not going to get 1 Gbps on the NBN, let me tell you that right now. It'll be around 100 Mbps.

      • Later down the track speeds will increase over 100Mb to potentially 1Gb+, but that's probably 5-10 years away…

        • +1

          …but that's probably 5-10 years away

That's what they said about flying DeLoreans…

    • Actually the throughput is only 35mbps. See this cnet review: http://www.cnet.com.au/belkin-powerline-av-networking-adapte…

      • wow, kazumped

Better off with a usb for home media

      • Like wifi, it really depends on the environment. In this case, how your wiring is run. Different outlets can give you different speeds.

I tried a homeplug device at a friend's place, to hook up an xbox to the net. It didn't work - the signal was so poor, it was unusable. That said, I know of people who have no problems with it.

The cnet reviewer got 35Mbps, someone else might get 70Mbps.

  • +2

Nice! been itching to try out EOP for a while now for one hop in my place. This was just the sort of deal I needed to make it happen.

  • -1

    Wicked. Thanks OP!

  • $26.44 via bank deposit to Melbourne

  • +4

Very decent reviews at Amazon (4.5/5, 35 reviews): http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F5D4077-VideoLink-Powerline-Int…

Make sure you apply the firmware update if it isn't already applied: http://www.belkin.com/au/support-article?rnId=4935. It supposedly includes "Many general performance and reliability improvements (Especially at longer ranges)" which one reviewer on Amazon said helped.

  • Should this improve the the lag to an Xbox which is currently wireless connected to router but in the same room ie very little interference?

    • +2

I might have read that incorrectly but if your xbox is in the same room as your router, why don't you just use an ethernet cable instead of wireless?

      • +2

might be on a different side/end of the room…(i personally am finished with the days of cat-5 cable running across/through walkways/doorways!)

  • +1

I've always wondered if these things work. Now I get to find out!

    SOLD.

  • I honestly don't need this yet I feel so compelled to buy it. o_0

    • Me too… I'll probably decide I want it at the last minute then as I'm checking out it will go out of stock.

  • +1

Powerline adaptors are great. I have the Netcomm 200mbps kit from a Foxtel deal for $99.
The Netcomm ones with socket pass through are better as you don't lose the use of two sockets with them. But these are bargains at under $30.

Incidentally, the adaptors don't have to be on the same electrical cable ring for them to work but throughput is reduced if they are on separate ring because the connection is made at the circuit breaker board, I believe. The latest adaptors claimed 500mbps transfer speed with high prices to match.

    • Got the same ones and socket pass through is much better! Only bummer was they only sold in twin packs and I needed a third!

      • Maybe get a cheap router to hook up to the receiving end?

  • +1

Been waiting for these to come down it price to test out! Great price. Thanks Megabuy!

  • only 3 available. go go go go….

  • +1

EOP is great for renters or for people a little reluctant to run ethernet through there house.

Results will vary … depending on where each power point is on the circuit.

  • SOLD… hope it works!

  • +3

There is still plenty of stock available. Go Go Go! :)

    • Yeah I noticed that its been setting at 3 in stock for over 20mins. :)

      • Marketing ploy, buy now or it will be gone, gone, gone.

  • Perfect for my Toshipba 3D TV bought a while ago via OzBargain that need to connect to the Internet only via cable. Just need a new Blueray player and will complete the OzBargain entertainment pack!

let's hope they aren't dicks like they were when they bought all the N40L's and jacked up the prices.

  • I run a couple of 200Mbit units at home (Netcomm not belkin) and they have been working like a charm for months. Fast enough to put high res movies from my PC, over the powerlines to the router, then it goes wireless to my TV. Max speed through the house from my ISP as well…

200Mbit EOP is an absolute bargain at this price. Sold! ;o)

  • Hope it doesnt get sold by the time I get home.. :(

  • +1

    ewww belkin!
