Our family is set to go on a much needed break early July, what car hire places do you recommend?
Basically we'll be taking 2 suitcases, plus 3 carry on, so was thinking something like a Kia Cerato\Hyundai i30 sedan should suffice.

Apex Car Rentals used to be my go to because their 'zero excess' was cheaper than anywhere else.
Note most of their depots are outside of the airport, but they will collect you in a shuttle bus. Minor inconvenience for a peace of mind car rental experience.

I’d avoid hiring a Corolla hatch. Jack all boot space. Sounds like you have more than two passengers so you definitely won’t be able to fit five suitcases if travelling in a group of more than two

You better check that the hire car place actually has sedans. I know my local SIXT branch (not in a tourist hotspot; just the one down the road from my house) doesn't have sedans

Looks like everyone is doing around $50 per day with discounts hard to come by in school hols. It's worth booking now but checking later as prices can drop if demand doesn't match forecast.
Ended up getting a Corolla Sedan for almost $50 bang on :)
Another vote for apex car rentals.. used them a couple of times.. better rate than anywhere else.
