Make Up Remover or Microfibre Cloth?

In my pursuit of a perfect make-up remover, I stumbled upon this forum in Vogue: People are using microfibre cloth instead of a proper make-up remover! As much as I love bargains and hate to pay big money to big make-up companies, I still cant get this around my head. Would you do this??? Thought I would throw the question here and hopefully my knowledgeable OzBargainers can shed some light/experience.

  • I wouldn't only because my current skin cleansing routine is working great for me. I use a makeup remover wipe before my shower, and then use my clarisonic mia in the shower and that removes every trace of makeup remaining. Skin has never looked better, and I've had the same routine for a year now.

  • Thanx Abb. This is the first time I heard of clarisonic mia. Seems a bit abrasive. The website I found has 269 Q&A. Interesting read but not sure it's my type.

  • I use the Johnson & Johnson refreshing daily cleansing wipes (pink packet, comes in 25 I think) to remove makeup - it takes off Estée Lauder Doublewear foundation, which has got to be one of the hardest to remove foundations out there - as well as waterproof mascara/eyeliner etc. it's about $14 for 75 sheets, but I don't wear makeup often so it is okay for me. I would be worried about using a microfibre cloth to scrub around the delicate eye area…

  • Hmm, I thought the idea of using makeup remover is for it to act like a 'solvent' for the products that have been applied to the face. It's very different from just wiping off with a cloth. I can't see how a cloth would work well esp for long-lasting makeup such as waterproof mascara and foundation like the Doublewear that eevee888 mentioned above. Prolonged rubbing would probably irritate most faces.

Make-up removers don't need to be expensive, I use an Avon one which cost me $3.99 when it was on sale. I am sure any brand from priceline/supermarket would do the job.
