Daydream Island 2013 Spring

I might be going to Daydream Island next year (spring) for a wedding. From what I know, it will be really expensive. That includes transport (I come from Brisbane) and the accommodation. Bear in mind if I were to spend all the money and time to travel there, I would want to stay for as many nights as possible. I would say I should stay at least one night there (for the wedding reception)but can stay elsewhere on other nights.
Can someone tell me whether there is an economical way of doing it?

    transport: Swim/walk

    Accommodation: Beach :)

  • Ok, we receive the invite. It's in September.
Accommodation in Daydream is shocking but we have no choice.
Have decided to stay in Arlie for 2 nights.
Total cost of airfare and accommodation for 2 people is very high.
Tried to look at packages from Flight Centre but it's worse that DIY.
    Any advice is much appreciated.

has $588 per pax for two nights on 13 sept. You didn't say what dates, so I just put one in. You also didn't say what the quote was. If we don;t know where you are coming from, it is hard to offer advice.

  • What date is the wedding on? Do you have to be there the day before?

What sort of price has FC quoted for two nights inc air?

  • You could stay at Hamilton Island on an air/bed package, and pop over for the wedding.
What date is the wedding - in or out of September school holidays ?

Or rent-a-yacht with a group of others for a week and moor just off Daydream Island on the wedding day/night - accommodation & transport covered.

  • Thank you all for sharing.
We are now thinking of DayDream's "3 Night Winter Getaway" package. $336pp (http://www.daydreamisland.com/winter/index.html)
    Or Expedia $627.90…..

Much simpler and safer than our original plan to stay at Arlie for 2N and then one at DayDream.
Transfer between Arlie and DayDream cost an arm and leg, and the time is not flexible. Bear in mind the wedding starts at noon and finish after midnight maybe…

FC's Ad for 3N Arlie incl airfare is $$389 pp (http://www.flightcentre.com.au/holidays/product/2663614)
But their quote for us for 2N is $490pp (including airfare and transfer) !! We didnt even bother to query them so we dont know whether it is false advertising or an error.

  • Well done - enjoy, DD Is is great. There's a little beach over the otherside via a walking track with heaps of fish. Take some bread and a mask and snorkel.
