Cheapest .com Domain?

Cheapest I have found is goDaddy at $7.99

I'm curious as to how cheap these can be found?

  • http://www.godaddy.com/deals2/ $3.09

(If that doesn't work Google godaddy and click on the ad.)

PETA (and others) would encourage you NOT to go with Go (elephant killing) Daddy, regardless of price. Google is your friend.

  • Kind of a late reply, just in case anyone stumbles on this page like I did:

I highly recommend not going with godaddy. They try to sell you heaps of junk, have an infuriating interface, and rip you off on renewals & stuff like whois protection.

Try out name.com or namecheap.com. I'm using name.com right now, paying $10/year with free whois protection (coupon: PRIVACYPLEASE). It's much better than Godaddy IMO.

  • I have been a customer of Name.com and DomainSite.com for many years — and they are pretty much the same registrar until this year. Then I heard that Demand Media bought Name.com in January 2013 that really makes me worried.

Demand Media is the publisher for eHow and Cracked.com, i.e. free to use websites that survive on advertisement (like OzBargain :) And now they also want a share of pie in the domain registration market, where many other publishers also bought domain names from. I think there's a conflict of interest there.

Name.com's WHOIS protection is also just free for the first year.

I now want to move my domains to either DreamHost (USD$10/year with free WHOIS protection) or VentraIP (AUD$10/year with free WHOIS protection). Both are accredited registrars. VentraIP being Australian business and its price is GST included, so you can claim back the GST if you are running a business that's also registered for GST.

internet.bs 8.49 USD per year with free whois privacy.
I've been with them for a few years without issue.

Used to be with name.com when they were cheaper.

  • I use namecheap because I got a few cheap transfers around the time of the big SOPA thing, after finding out Godaddy is adamant on supporting sopa/etc, so I transferred away.

NC currently have a coupon "SPRINGY" for a $9.69 .com registration with free whois, but it's probably not the cheapest around (definitely good for transfers though).
