This gets, for example:

  • standard multifocals from $125
  • a pair of polarised multifocal sunglasses with 1.6 lenses for $187.50 (or photochromic for $200). This is quite good if you have extras cover - it is very hard to get that kind of price at Specsavers or Optically or Clearly or other places that allow health fund claiming.

If you don't have extras cover and don't need multifocals, cheaper options are available elsewhere (at Zenni, muukal etc). But a quick spot check of a few frames at Zenni shows that Dresden is slightly cheaper than Zenni for most multifocal options with this deal.

T&Cs: During the sale period same day service is not available, and some orders may take slightly longer than usual. The 50% discount applies to new orders only, not applicable to existing orders. The 50% discount is limited to 5 pairs per order. 50% discount applies to multifocals/progressives only, not available on any other products or services. The 50% discount excludes BYO frame fittings, contact lenses and all other accessories and optometry services. Discount is only available per person and can’t be split between multiple people. Discount can’t be used in conjunction with any other campaigns, promotions or discounts. Add items to cart, and use code: HALFER at checkout. Free shipping on online orders only, with a minimum spend of $125. Available in-store, online and over the phone. Offer ends midnight, 5th August 2024.

  • Anyone know if you can claim Prescription sunglasses (through Bupa) from Vision Direct, or Just Sunnies or Zenni?

Alternatively buy non prescrip glasses for the frames (Bupa Optical sell the same frames, but don't sell the colour I want) and get them, or Costco, or whoever to put in some prescrip lenses.

Bupa support can't answer these questiona (in store or via escalated complaint). Provided them direct links to products as well.

    • Funny enough - I just got a call back from Poopa (bupa) ..If it helps anyone else…apparently it needs to have a bricks and mortar front somewhere (Bupa make up their T&Cs as they go along).

So only JustSunnies above is supported …allegedly …according to one Bupa person….for today

    • Zenni won't let you claim. https://www.justsunnies.com.au/page/optical-health-fund-prov… says they do. Vision Direct say they do - https://www.visiondirect.com.au/p/health-rebate/bupa/ .

All found with a minute of Googling.

      • Indeed …but Bupa will not honour Vision Direct.

Just because they plaster it all over their website..and include a Bupa claim form….doesn't mean a thing…well in fact the opposite..

So in this case a quick Google will have one parted with their hard earned…takes more than that.

I asked Bupa to follow this up with Vision Direct….ie. Do you care a large scale business is scamming your customers?

    • or whoever to put in some prescrip lenses.

https://www.optically.com.au/reglaze-glasses.htm do this service (it is called "reglazing").

      • Cheers. They have providers numbers. So should be good to go with claiming

Looks like prescription sunglass lenses start at $100 + $9 shipping. Which is pretty good compared to the usuals around $300 for lenses.

No wonder there are 10 optical shops in each mall these days….should have opened a SpecsSavers…

        • Consider waiting for Dresden to have 50% off on single vision sunglasses (assuming that is what you need). That will be less than $100.

I can't speak highly enough about Dresden.
