OzBargain honoured on Lifehacker

Lifehacker today has posted Ozbargain as one of its 'Five Best Deal Sites': http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2012/11/five-best-deal-sites-2/

Granted, COTD being there as well makes the nomination much less redeeming - nevertheless, our community is described as "the ideal first port of call for checking out discounts of all stripes, whether that’s a deal from a national chain on cheap DVDs or a giveaway of free drinks at a railway station that’s only going to run for an hour".

I've been a long-time lurker on Ozbargain, and just wanted to say thank you for saving me so much money over the years on things I never knew I needed before!

Ozbargain has always been covered by Lifehacker. For the last 2 years already. Its no wonder they put us first on the list, cos' we're so damn awesome.

  • I love the work of Lifehacker and the Kidmans, so definitely is a pat on the back to get a mention. For those who don't read our social media, we also got a mention in The Sydney Morning Herald last week as well.

BTW, does anyone have trouble commenting on Lifehacker? I've attempted a number of times to comment with their old commenting system and my comments would always get stuck in their moderation queue. I signed up with a new account using new email address and again my comment has been stuck in moderation. It's quite frustrating.

    • SMH eh? Is that why we got a massive increase in likes on FB?

      • The increase in Facebook likes are 2 fold. First, when the server went down on November 14 for a few hours we were able to redirect people to OzBargain's Facebook and Twitter feeds. I think we ended up gaining 400 or so followers in only a couple of days.

We've also been trialing Facebook advertising which appears to be working as well.

As for commenting, I'm trying to sort out with the LH team why my comments are blocked. Don't think I spammed them?

    • I have no trouble getting comments onto Lifehacker (or Gizmodo or Kotaku) at all. Mostly mine go through unmoderated, but I'm a fairly prolific commenter.

  • Just did a bit of googling and it seems Angus @ Lifehacker has mentioned/quoted OzBargain as early as July 2008:
