Buying Gift Cards with Credit Cards

Hi all,

Last year I purchased a few gift cards at Woolies during the EDR 20x points period using my credit card. I didn’t get hit with the cash forward fee, does anyone know whether this is still the case?

I know depends on the Bank detecting the gift card transaction, but how would they know? The merchant is woolies at the end of the day.

    I've never heard of it happening in Australia.

    Never had gift cards appear as a cash advance

    Coz it's not a cash advance; you've turned money into gift cards which is technically different.
