I use it almost daily for a year

        • +1

          2 years now.

          • +1

@Schrodinger: It says "for external use only". No way I'm showering outside in winter.

    • +2

Ive been using it weekly for the past year. Once my dandruff was under control I started using it once a week

      • +1

I'm guessing the hidden side effect is making your hair 100% more flammable so be careful of any open flames.

        • +1

it's not just open flames, the product makes your head/skin more susceptible to sun burn. You aren't meant to let the sun hit your head for 24 hours after using this, so anyone using it daily.. oof.. maybe get your scalp checked by a skin doctor..

    • +1

Ive been using it for like 2yrs now. I didnt know there was a problem with long term use?

      • +1

There was some fear mongering about Coal shampoo's causing an increase in cancer but in the studies the have done there was no evidence of that.

I am going to keep using it because im not going back to flaky scalp.

  • +1

I put this stuff in my wind shield washer

  • +13

Due to limited supply, last time I had to buy this from a scalper

    • +7

You can always brush off your problems, but they just keep coming back. Unless you are head and shoulders above the rest.

This was my go too until I needed it one day and it was 15$ I laughed and found this on the shelf for 3$

OC Naturals 2 In 1 Ani-Dandruff Conditioning Shampoo, it's on special now for $2.50, it works and I figure the tgel was drying out my skin around the scalp too.

    • +1

Yes, even though T/Gel shampoo works great, it dries out my scalp and skin on face. I will give OC Naturals a try. Thanks.

    • +1

Yeah, OC Naturals has been my mainstay for a while now. No point paying any more than that.

Though, they recently changed the formula (it used to include Zinc Pyrithione which worked wonders, I think some recent studies found a negative link to reproductive health) - I haven't seen a marked change in effectiveness, though will see how it pans out.

      • +1

A negative link to reproductive health sounds like a positive link to contraception. I'm going to use it as junk wash.

  • Thanks OP .. perfect timing

    • +1

Is it starting to snow where you are?

      • +1

No, but it wouldve if not for this deal :-D

  • Each to their own of course, but I tried this stuff and the smell was seriously off-putting.

If you're looking for an alternative, I prefer Dermal Therapy Scalp Relief Shampoo & Conditioner 210mL.

That aside, nice find OP, hope it helps some.

This is a specialised product for people who suffer from dermatitis or psoriasis .dandruff is a much more common problem and has multiple other cheaper options.. In my case I find this product which has coal tar to be way more effective than Nizoral which is a basically Ketoconasole a broad spectrum anti fungal..using this product for dandruff is like using an AK 47 to hunt a rabbit ..it will do the job but you will lose the hare

    • +1

Nizoral or Selsun (all variants) are basically useless for me. This one works ok.

      • Same for me ..but take it easy with this stuff.. its a very harsh product which dries the scalp and not really needed regularly ..I started twice a week then once a week and now once every 2 weeks..no more psoriasis and I shall keep decreasing the time period till I find the right spot ..but damn the stuff is like magic

  • I've posted this before, I'll post again.

Please make sure you read the caution/warning on the back of the box. I've used this before and being bald it really made going out in the sun an awful experience. Instant cracking headaches and irritation after using it, I stopped using it and thought to give it another chance and it all started again. Threw it in the bin.

    YMMV

  • +2

Works well but does smell like tar, subjective of course but not a pleasant scent for me.

  • User name checks out

  • +2

I've been using this for years at a fraction of the price

Amazon has it on special because twin packs are on sale at Aldi next week for $17.

    • the real bargains are usually found in the comments

  • i might be flaky, but I'm not old

  • Heads up for anyone that this doesn't work for with more serious symptoms (and not just dandruff) - I had some seborrheic dermatitis looking symptoms on my scalp/face that tar didn't work for. I tried some anti-fungal shampoo (Ketoconazole 2%) at the suggestion of a GP and in two washes I was pretty well sorted. Still use it once every few weeks if it comes back and bloody hell is it nice to not have an itchy head anymore.

    • Ketoconazole 2% is what this product contains..what product did you use if you don't mind me asking ? No sorry..that mustve been Nizoral.. this works better for me

      • this product contains coal tar? ketoconazole isn't coal tar?
