Have you played it though? I feel like you're getting that by just looking at it. This game absolutely outperforms the last 10 years of Ubi games in every way. Moment to moment gameplay just feels so much better, traversal is beautiful, side quests are meaningful.

Feel like this is a hot take of someone yet to go hands on and play it.

      • I bought it on pc when it came out and have 16 hours in it. I reckon that's enough time to form a valid opinion. The story missions were great but outside of that there's a too much pointless busywork and faffing about to bulk out the gameplay

        • Fair, I think the combat is vastly better than a Ubisoft game, but can agree that the collectibles can be a bit much. It might just be that you are perhaps burnt out on the open world concept as a whole.

Ubisoft would have made the main protagonist black.

      • As opposed to making the main propagandist white. Again.

      • Shouldn't be an issue unless you are racist.

eh, haptic works all the same on PC with a dualsense (even via bluetooth now), and I like to play at 120+fps. But each to their own.

Also the PC has full lip syncing as well.

      • +1

Lip syncing & 120 fps makes the game ‘more fun’ ?

        • Definitely more fun! Please doesnt look weird.

Do play it in Japanese audio english sub.

The core of the game is pretty good but there's too much filter content in my opinion. Though even the filler content mostly have unique dialog etc so it's def higher quality filler content, but still repeatable, boring, tedious after a while.

They're also optional so you can just skip that and have a better experience in my opinion

If they had made a game with similar mechanics and gameplay and similar quality acting and dialog and similar open-world format, yet set it in Middle-earth (Lord of the Rings) or somewhere similar, I think it would have been much more interesting and fun to play.

There is something compelling about exploring Middle-earth because of the variety in peoples and landscapes and culture. In Japan, everywhere is pretty much more of the same. This comes across in the game—whether real or psychological I don't know. I personally would be motivated to continue playing if it was set in a land that I knew was not just rich in culture, but also rich in diversity of experience.

Also, it's pretty much common knowledge that the Mongol invasion of Japan lasted a few days then a storm blew their ships away, so that kind of spoils it for me too.

      • Do the Shadow of Mordor/ War not fit that description?

        • I guess Shadow of Mordor is partly along those lines, although it's not as refined as Ghost of Tsushima.

I bought this game about 2 weeks ago and just last night posted a review on steam for it and this was what I wrote:
"Open world Samurai game with stunning visual graphics and an incredible atmosphere. Love the little things like the gusts of wind to direct you to the place you want to go to, the leaves and blossoms blowing in the wind, and the weather patterns that combine to make this such an amazing experience.
You play Jin Sakai - the lone samurai survivor after an invasion by Mongols takes out most of the island of Tsushima. You must learn to fight any way you can to defeat the Mongols and save your home and your people. Great storytelling throughout - along with lots of questions about the nature of war, honour and what it means to be a Samurai.
I'm about 70 hours in and the game has been incredibly immersive and thoroughly enjoying all the side quests and don't see myself finishing this for another 70 or more!"

    • Agreed.

Is it as good as Gran Turismo 7 though. That game has no end.

  • +1

Classic game, played this on PS4 Pro at 30fps and tinkered with it on PS5. Can only imagine how nice and fluid this would feel with a powerful PC rig.

  • -6

Absolute classic. Pretty sure I first played it back in ps3, hans down recommend a repurchase for sure.

Playing it at the moment. Game is good but you get way too OP far too quickly, and then because there isn't much more in the way of gameplay introductions, or variety of enemies, it gets a bit boring. It's one of those games where it keeps pushing stealth, but if they serve no threat, then there's no point.

    • I finished the base game, the side quests do feel repetitive after a while. I found the Iki Island DLC much harder (at least at the beginning) so I didn't finish it. Paid $3 for 1 month worth of PS Plus Extra so had to play as many games as possible. Overall, still quite enjoyed it.

    • ng+ with the curse of frailty makes it a bit more intense :P the dripping black is a bit annoying tho

Copped for the steam deck for an upcoming flight, heard it runs well enough.
