YouTube Premium (India) Subscription Going up Oct 24

Hey y'all,

Just got this notice this morning.

It appears notices went out to users end of August. If you haven't taken action and clicked on that Accept button you will lose premium I guess in your October renewal cycle.

Going from 189 Rupees to 299. Upon clicking the button at bottom of email the YouTube premium does correctly say

Family membership: ₹189.00/mo
Your family plan bill will be ₹299.00/mo starting on 23 Oct 2024.

  I finally got the letter. India sub.

  Will ride it out till the bitter end then cancel and pay YouTube au prices I guess

  Still possible via Turkey or India subscription via Apple. As far as I know will need an apple device to sign up only.

  I let this lapse. I had no problem signing up again for family plan. This is everything i did. IOS device required

  1. Download free vpn India app on iOS device and use for remaining steps, it drops out sometimes so look out for the vpn icon at top of screen
  2. Create an Indian outlook account (not sure if necessary), add email to iOS device for simplicities sake.
  3. Log out of your Apple ID and create Indian one on your iOS device (it lets me use my Aus number for verification), used Indian outlook email & fake physical address.
  4. Delete YouTube app on iOS
  5. Re download YouTube app when signed into Indian Apple ID.
  6. Go to set up premium through the app. (I use my everyday YouTube account as the family manager.) Make sure it shows Indian prices (Probably are paying App Store fees but couldn’t get this to work in browser)
  7. Buy apple gift cards through India amazon (amazon.ir) AFTER seeing the Indian price (just so you know it will work and your not buying the gift card for nothing). I use my normal Aus amazon account and get emailed code instantly
  8. Buy premium.

  You can then sign out of the Indian apple ID and turn off VPN
  Through this i have also got cheap Duo lingo and NBA pass for friends.

    FYI, can skip step 4 and 5.
    Just changing and reloading app will have the same effect :)

  dont you lose something when you log out of your original apple ID and relog back in later on after completing this process?

    What do you mean?

    The workaround essentially means that you create a 'use-for-payment-only-turkey/indian-based Apple ID'. You make sure it is topped up with Turkish/Indian giftcard.

    Then your normal Apple ID which is logged in to your Apple YouTube App, will subscribe and payment via the aforementioned Apple ID.

    You use YouTube (and subsequently on any other platform, PC, Android, iOS) normally - with your usual account. Just that the subscription is done via Apple of the 'use-for-payment-only-turkey/indian-based Apple ID'.

    Theoretically your viewing history and preferences will get restored when you log back in. Alternatively as most people have done -is to use a backup / separate device to establish the payment-only account.
