Asus GTX660 DC2-2G vs Asus GTX660 DC2O-2G

Hey guys,
So I was doing a bit of searching for graphics cards, and noticed MSY offered these 2 with a $10 price difference.
Does anyone know what the difference between these 2 cards are?
Also Would be keen to see a graphics card deal posted on OzB :P Will probably hold off until then.

Thanks!

I think one is the reference board using the DC2 cooling system and the other is a factory OC'd variant; again using the DC2 cooling system.

    Check out the clocks:

The ASUS GeForce GTX 660 DirectCU II 2GB features core clock of 980MHz (1033MHz boost), 2048MB of GDDR5 at 6008MHz

The ASUS GeForce GTX 660 DirectCU II OC 2GB features core clock of 1020MHz (1085MHz boost), 2048MB of GDDR5 at 6008MHz

    • ahh I see thanks, would you say its worth the extra $10?

It's your call mate. The stock version can easily be pushed to the factory OC'd version clock levels as it is not an aggressive overclock and the cooling system in use is the same. That way you save $10. :)

However, running the factory OC'd version at its stock clocks means that you have a relatively small performance boost (over the std version) without any risk of losing your warranty. Also, there is a chance that ASUS are using higher quality chips on the OC'd version so your headroom for further OC-ing could be a bit more as compared to the GPU on the standard chip.

Full disclosure: I'm running the OC'd DCU2 version of the GTX 670 and am extremely happy with it. :) Cools like a charm.

  • I use the gigabyte 660ti version it works well but is slightly more runs everything at high at good frame rate.

  • I would just get the cheaper one. Would you notice the difference on a day to day basis? Only an enthusiast would. Be an OZbargainer and get the cheaper one :)
