Prepaid SIM card in Hong Kong

I am going on holiday in Hong Kong visiting friends and plan to stay there for a month. Can anyone suggest a non-contract prepaid sim with affordable 3G data included?

Tia.

I think I used this one when I was in Hong Kong. I found this on a forum, costs less than $10 and has a maximum cost per day for data so for data the maximum cost is $3.5(hk$28) per data after this it is free. Also local calls are $0.036(hk$0.3) per minute.

P.s. I'm so sleepy my sentences might not make sense. =]

Just go into 7-eleven and ask them to give u a few choices of pre-paid sim card. Read what's included in the packs, from memory it included value for data but not very economy, but ok if u just use when needed.

Yep. Can also buy in the airport, but a year or so ago I just do walked into a 7 Eleven, handed over HK$98 - about $12 - and it provided just enough credit to cover data & calls for the week or so I was there. No handing over license or anything. Gotta love that.. If you're there for longer, you'd probably want to get the one for HK$298 although it's pretty easy to top up as well.

Oh, and buy an Octopus card at the kiosk near the train. Get the one that includes the Airport Express train return trip if you aren't being picked up or using a taxi. Love the Octopus card. Works pretty much everywhere (other than taxis, that are cash only)….

In the airport, go down to the departures level and you'll find a 1010 store. Ask for http://one2free.hkcsl.com/jsp/prepaid_sim_card/next_g_starte…. They're really helpful and will activate the sim and pack for you. They speak English.

$78 HK is unlimited broadband for a week. Since you buy a $100 card, there's 22 HK available for calls too.

Good advice about the Octopus card; as mentioned, if you're there less than a month make sure you buy a return Airport train ticket from the Customer Service Officer ($180 HK vs $200 for 2x single way fares). It's worth having the Octopus card though.

Once in HK, go to Shum Sui Po ,those side streets next to computer centre, you can buy those prepaid cards almost half price ( Same card you pay full price ar 7-11).

    • It only cheaper at SSP if you get a new number sim card

recharge cards are the same price as outside
