iPhone 5 - 14 Day Free Trial, Courtesy of Apple

Turns out they have a very lax return policy:

I might get an iPhone with every intention of returning it in 2 weeks… that is unless it can win me over.

Anyone else done this?

  • wow seriously, has anyone tried this out? maybe the same condition in original packaging is the catch??

    • pretty sure it can be used.

    • My friend did this

    • I once returned a speck iphone 4 case. It doesn't matter whether it's used or not as long as it's within 14 days.

IMO its a waste of time setting it all up them having to send it back.

  • I do not think it is a waste of time, but would be careful not to get caught out. Wonder how many times you can do this? interesting let me know if you try it? thanks

Fork out $900 on a credit card with the intention to return it two weeks later, for what real purpose? What happens if you like it?

Then there's the cost and effort to return it. What happens if you damage it during the time?

Do you put aside your droid for the two weeks, or just keep it in a cupboard so you can see Apple lose some money on the exchange. (They'll sell it refurbished so probably it will have a very little impact on the bottom line

As for the "Lax", I guess that's all in what you see. Maybe generous could be another.

  • I don't see any point in doing this. So you'd have an iphone 5 with no paid apps,(unless you had a previous iOS device) and if you drop it, you may not be able to return it.

I suggest you just try out one of your friend's iphone or just spend some time in the store with the display model.

  • I can understand the use of this policy to people who genuinely want to buy on iPhone but are not sure if they will like it. Spending some time at the store fiddling with it is totally different from actually using one in real life scenarios. So this might actually help. However, I do not see any value in trying to take advantage of it.

  • $900 wow thats a ripoff!
