I have just signed up for a 6month plan which is 35 channels with Foxtel..the offer is free installation and the 1st 3 months free for $153 …I am still in the 10day cooling off period..now please bear in mind I am one of the seniors of this world so I am after advice not sarcasm as to whether or not this is a good deal…It seems this package comes with the ability for all of us in the house ( 3 ) to be able to use this package so we can all be watching different shows at the same time be it on the TV or on the computer..which is great for me as I am not interested in the shows my grown children watch ..Thank you in advance

I think its a very good deal, probably the best starter deal Foxtel have had. Wasn't so long ago they charged $100 for installation, and they'd usually only waive it if you signed up on a 2 year contract.

I had Foxtel for about 10 years, got rid of it about 18 months ago. When I finished up we were paying about $75 for the basic channels plus sport, so I think your deal is excellent. Best part is you're only on a 6 month contract.

A word of advice, foxtel can be bartered with once you've got the box in your house. After your 6 months you should tell them you want it gone (as it's too expensive), almost always they'll start offering you a better deal. When I cancelled my subscription they offered me all channels for $40 a month with no lock in contract.

TL;DR - $153 for 6 months of Foxtel is a great deal. Especially when the free to air channels this time of year are so terrible!

Definitely agree with drdolphin. It's a good deal however after the 6 months tell them you're going to cancel and watch them throw major deals at you. I used to have foxtel and was paying $116 a month, it just got too expensive. I don't like how they talk about high-definition as something you should pay extra for (they call it IQ2) when most tv's are full HD anyway.

      • Just going through the paper work and there is a $10 per month charge which is for the "Pause function "is it worth spending the $10 for the pause function ?

      • I phoned recently to cancel and they offered me $25 off my $100 per month account for 3 or 6 months - can't remember how long now. Has anyone been offered more off than this??

        • Cancelled 2 years ago, was offered all channels for $40 a month. Was sick of foxtel so didn't bother taking them up on it. Actually just annoyed me that I'd been paying full price for years when all I had to do was ring and get a better deal. Seems their normal policy to offer better deals when you cancel. They are desperate for people to stay with them.

  • Can current subscribers get this offer?

    • no idea if you can get the offer..you could just try hassling them over the phone

  • How did you get this deal? I would take it up but can't be bothered going round in circles with the foxtel sales people.

    • There was a guy door knocking the area I live in …I am in Ipswich QLD

  • Found this: http://www.foxtel.com.au/shop/get-foxtel/friends-and-family/…

On the phone signing up now. God these sales guys are brutal..

    • $141 for 6 months,very tempting.

Will they let me pay the whole 6 months up front? i just hate having monthly direct debits.

      • Doubt it, you can pay with credit card but.

        • Ahh ok thanks.

Wonder if this offer can be used in conjunction with this other offer http://myfoxtelenews.foxtel.com.au/friends/sendtofriend.aspx

        • I think you would have to pay $100 installation, the minimum cost on that one is $141.

        • Yer i see,was hoping the $100 EFTPOS card was more a general referral bonus.

        • bugga …you mean by putting this info up ..I could have referred you lot and made a killing ….bugga ..bitch…bum ..that is old ladies swearing

        • I would like to say Thank you for the info you have all given me ..it is much appreciated

  • Update The technician arrived to install the Foxtel Starter pack ..before I let him start any work I asked him to conform what I was told by the sales guy…well I am now sitting here feeling like a fool…the deal is for ONE box which will only let you have Foxtel on one TV and is not available my computer or any other computer /Ipad in the house …I have rung Foxtel ..and what a waste of time that was…got the please FAX us the info ..I must have misunderstood what the sales rep was meaning
Needless to say the house is and will remain Foxtel free

  • All foxtel customers can access a few channels via ipad. I don't have a ipad but I wouldn't think it would be that useful. You can download a very limited number of shows via pc.

  • I signed up on their website on 26/12/12 and had someone install it on 28/12/12. It was pretty hassle free. But the bummer is the additional cost for HD and additional channels, it can all add up but I just went with the basics. After the guy installed it, he rang headoffice and they did a few things on their end to make it work. Suddenly I found out they have me all the channels!! So I am enjoying all the cricket football, etc. I logged onto my account and it still says I am only signed up on the 6 month discount package.
I wonder if Foxtel gave me all the channels to try and get me hooked on it, and then cancel the additional channels in a few weeks time.
