I would have to say, one of my worst whisky purchases of last year. Very alcohol forward and quite hot, not much flavour in there.

Being cask strength they didn't dilute it with water from the distillery before hand as they do with the typical 1s you buy that are 40-43%.

I have quite a few cask strength whiskies in the collection and love a wee dram that has bite. I always like to try my whisky straight befote deciding if i want to bring it down to 46 - 43%. Appreciate the tip that you have provided, not knowing if i have any experience with whisky. In this Lagavulin example i was just providing a personal experience on the drop. This one isn't for me but others may enjoy it. I'll come to ot in a few months and see if has improved
Did you try the johnnie walker black label islay origin. Pure malts and supposedly large proportion of lagavulin in it.
Most reviewers agree the diego special releases have slowly gotten worse over time. The 2022 and 2021 laga 12yr are noticeably nicer.
Highly recommend the Ronny XO. Purchased it last year for $200 and will be buying two bottles at this price.
More a whisky drinker but picked this up when it was $149, nice drop, I think its worth it even for the extra 10. Not sure if it still works but if you register new accounts can get 5% off first order, think it was NEW5 or WELCOME5.
