Good morning all.
My 12 year old kid's, 8 year old iPad pro just died. In the market for iPad/ tablet.
I shortlisted these 2 as these available around $500.
He just plays Roblox and Minecraft, occasionally some simple games. He doesn't have a preference between Android or Apple.
Looking for trouble free and stable operation and better value.
Can someone help me decide between these two.

My 8yo uses a Galaxy Tab 9 FE which I got under 500 with a sale
Do you see any performance issues in Minecraft or Roblox.
Definitely the iPad for longevity. It'll receive OS updates regularly, on time, and hassle-free, for many more years.
Android-based manufacturer's, Google, Samsung, have recently extended their software updates to 7 years for phones, are they doing the same fot tabs?

If you want to restrict the usage ipad, ios is pretty restrictive.
Android gives you a lot of leeway in sense of downloadables.
Parental restrictions are there on both.
If you have iphone or in ios ecosystem go for ipad. No brainer.
Personally i would take ipad for kids for better management and being in loop what ever they doing is safe.
Since it's for games, note that the iPad is 64GB and s9 fe is 128gb. However, the processor in the iPad is much more powerful as the Samsung uses a mid range Exynos vs the Apple A14.

They're both similar enough that I'd just pick the one that is cheaper, or if price is the same whatever OS you're more comfortable with.
End of day they're both mid-range and will do what you need them to do for a few years.

If you’ve already had an iPad it means you’ve already paid for apps. So it’ll just be a case of downloading (obviously doesn’t apply to Roblox)
Also if you’ve an iPhone then iPad is a good way to Message (it’s what I do with my kids)
Finally. iPad has much better resell value if you choose to do something different in the future

Bought it from Officeworks ( with 10% TCN card) and price matched with Costco. Came around $425.
Get a 9th gen from officeworks for $400. Functionally the same as a 10th gen with a more familiar layout (with home button)
