  anyone installed something like this in a Model Y? I'm looking at getting a Model y soon and have two young kids. so far anytime we had had to take a long car trip I've just let the older one use my iPad locked into something like iView in a kids account running off my hotspot.
  is it a lot nicer for them to just have a screen all the time in the back or would an iPad just when they need it be better?

    Hey Danny, there are loads of examples of this being installed in ozb comments but also all over the tesla facebook groups, reddit and youtube. I get this question a lot so I’ll give you a copypasta answer. You can definitely use an ipad and there are some benefits with ipad like it being portable. Having said that the following applies:

    An ipad will not control any of the car functions
    An ipad is difficult to safely secure in a vehicle and will become a projectile in an accident
    An ipad costs more
    An ipad will be a target for theft
    An ipad needs to be charged leading to exposed cables
    An ipad is locked to the app store while android can have many sideloaded and official apps
    An ipad permanently fixed in a hot car is not a good idea
    Points 1,2,4,5 and 7 also apply to cheap android tablets.

  I ordered the frunk opener from the website and followed the instructions to install it. The install went fine but it never completed the closure with the pull down latch at the end. I did some diagnosing using the support website but the same result. I’ve been emailing the support email address for months now with sporadic responses and when they do respond they’re scripted and aren’t listening. I’ve since discovered that the actuator that pulls the wire for the latch is faulty and sent them photos which they don’t reply to. I was keen to buy other parts for my M3P but can’t with this lack of support and non functioning hardware. I’d avoid the headache and waste of time. They won’t replace the part without me paying $60 for shipping and then suggested I order another product from them when I said I won’t be paying for the shipping for the faulty part.
