Optus is 5g, Catch is only 4g

      • +1

How does 4g compare to 5g? I notice sometimes my phone switch between the 2.

        Also how is optus network?

I have inability to call and text from time to time while on Vodafone

        • Wireless cellular is just a collection of radio frequencies reserved and allocated to other entities to provide cellular connectivity. This is also why the previous 1G-3G networks were shut down to free up radio bandwidth for 4G and 5G.
The benefit of 5G so far in a predominantly 4G world is less congestion, meaning phone calls can be higher quality and cellular internet bandwidth can be bigger, which is useful in crowded places such as shopping centres, sports arenas and concerts.
There are indeed speed increases of 5G over 4G, but the two most common methods of 5G implementation (Sub-6 and mmWave) have tradeoffs between faster speeds and shorter range (mmWave), or slower speeds and longer range (Sub-6).

          • @FujinShu: Thanks i gotcha. Like the trade of similar in wifi in 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies.

Would you know why i am having probs with vodafone btw? I never had problems with telstra so would probably switch back

    • try price beat at Officeworks but they’re offering 120gb

      • It has to be exactly the same.

  • Can SIM cards be bought using gift card? Also, can you stack everyday dollars?

    • +3

Yes, SIM cards aren’t gift cards, everything goes. Also covered by the 10% monthly discount.

      • Oh yes I forgot about 10% monthly discount

        • starter pack work with both, recharges don't.

  • 186 days not 365 boo

    • 365 days is for $240 on Optus website

  • Can't find the dates to be activated? Anyone has any ideas?
