Looking for Recommendations for Portable Air Conditioner

Just curious if portable ones are any good and effective?

Also if you have recommendation of any brand in particular

    Get a window/wall box over those stupid feee standing units.

    2.5ish kw will run alright off a GPO plug.

    But a brand you recognise like Kelvinator or something.

    You can buy mounting and infill kits online, even if you pay a handyman to do the install it is still better to have the heat exchanger and noisey bits outside of the room.

    I’ve seen dongas with box units over a decade old, I see Kogan free standers every curbside pickup.

    I have the 2nd one, its pretty quiet and when my bedroom door is closed the room gets cold.

    Live in a rental and use a Dimplex 2.5Kw for our bedroom. Quite happy with the cooling. If you can sleep with a bit of white noise then go for it. Its in its 3rd year of use and still going strong.

    Thought this discussion was done fairly recently.
    +++ When went shopping for such (mid 2000's) - wall box models were very hard to buy (WA).

    so much so … Most MAJOR retailers did'nt even stock them.

    Have they come back in fashion again ???

    I have three and the main thing I've learned is they do not cool as large an area as they say they do.

    I also say have a look at Cash Converters to see what they have in stock, as long as you know what you are looking for and a rough price - the last one I bought from Cashies was on display as 'box fan' for $50 :)

    And I definitely suggest getting the ones that don't need emptying every 15 minutes (that's what it feels like sometimes), it's worth paying a bit extra.

    The old Polocool models are are quieter and more effective than most others. Not sure about the new Polocool models.
