My Camelx3 watch list caught this price drop today. I believe it is the lowest price ever and delivery to Melbourne was $9.12

I remember this razor because when I (and a lot of other people) bought the Panasonic ES-LA63-S:

…someone in a forum mentioned at the time that the ES8243A was cheaper but more effective. While I really like the LA63 I am willing to try the ES8243A at around $85.00 to see if I like it more.

Earlier today I posted about replacement blades:

I wonder if they will fit this razor too?

  • How does this rate to something like this - http://www.amazon.com/Norelco-SensoTouch-Electric-1160X-Anti…

  • Seems to be almost double the price on ebay AU. Anyone able to comment on its quality as a product?

    • Out of the various Panasonic shavers I've used over the years, the 8243 seemed to be the best for a close shave, better than the LA63 that replaced it. But the display crapped out on it after a year or so (and after one or 2 unintentional drops on the tile floor as well).

      • I had my ES 8249 replaced 3 times because of the display dying. (which is basically the same but silver / black and comes with cleaner) . Thankfully it came with a 2 yr. Aus warranty which started again every time I got a replacement. In the end, the 3 shavers lasted a little over 4 years, and I now have replaced it under warranty with a higher model with different display design. I think water gets in the power button on this design personally, as I used mine in the shower most of the time.

That being said … I loved the shave …. it gives an excellent cut, and the new Arc5 I have doesn't do around the nose anywhere near as well although the cut is marginally better around the rest of the face..

    • I've had the ES8249 for 3 years without an issue. Te above model looks identical. My only shock is the cost of replacement of foils (i also have foils on watch with camelx3), and no the foils you posted will not fit this model.

Never used in the shower like a user reports below, the base station washing thing that came with mine is a waste, used twice, much faster with hand soap.

      • Would you mind including the Amazon link for replacement foils?

      • That's why my new shaver doesn't go in the shower. I still use it wet faced as I have very sensitive skin and its great for that. I'm just careful not to get the body wet these days. I want the new one to last more than the warranty period this time ….

  • A couple of other Philips shavers posted this week if you use the search function

  • @arthurbach4,
Amazon doesn't allow me to ship to sydney.
Panasonic WES035P Vortex HydraClean Shaving System Solution Cartridges for Men's Shaver (ES8109S, ES8228S, ES8249S, ES-LA93-K, ES-LV81-K) Count - 3 cannot be shipped to the selected address
How are you guys managing to get to Oz ?. Is there a shipping agent used for redirect shipping ?, if so then cost ?

    • Yeah it can be very annoying. I have no problems but a couple of guys at work struggle to get Amazon to send them much at all. My suggestion is to try any different addresses you may have access to e.g. work, family, mates etc.

      • Tried couple of office/residence/friends. Shit out of Luck :( .
Good price for this Japanese product.
