  • Have you tried the Hourglass in Sydney ?

    • No,any good?

  • I'd go for the Rolex. Unsure best place to buy.

    • Why?Rolex is alot more expensive compare with Tag

      • It'll probably hold it's value a lot better than Tag. Tag seems rather contemporary, in most cases when people sell Tag's I see people losing a lot of it.

  • They are as good as other? It's no contest. It's like comparing a Merc and Honda. The price says it all.

  • I'd take Omega over Tag.
If she likes big bling a Chanel J12 will do nicely, but for a classic piece you cannot go past Cartier.
If nothing above fits the bill then I'd look at Rolex.

  • Try buying overseas. Join up to watchusseek and find a watch you like.

    For Tag Heuer: http://www.acejewelers.com/

For Rolex: the maximum discount would be 10-15% off RRP when negotiating with ADs (authorised dealers). If you want to purchase locally, try The Hourglass or Swiss Concept.

Even if you get the discount, the price of the watch would still be significantly dearer as opposed to being from the US.

If you do not mind purchasing over the internet, I can recommend DAVIDSW from TRF - rolexforums.com

That being said, remember that the duty threshold will be breached and you'll be charged 10% duty and a $50 processing fee.

Join TRF for information but most of that community do not have any knowledge of Rolexes or for a matter of fact, watches in general. They are there simply to stroke their own (and each others) egos as they wear these watches.

  • There is one at The Star casino selling Rolex.

  • you can buy a TAG for $500-$600 if you look around.

Rolexes start at $3-4,000 i believe.

There are good and bad TAGs. The Carrera and stuff are fine.

    Completely differnt class I reckon.

  • When to Westfield Bondi this afternoon..The price of the watch is a lot more expensive compare with city.Anybody know where can get a bargain this day?

  • Hi guys, i got a quote $3050 from www.gregoryjewellers.com.au for "LONGINES – DOLCEVITA LADIES QUARTZ WATCH – L5.155.5.08.7 " model,what do you think?Anything can share with me?Thanks.

      ok

      look… watches are personal preference

i dont think longines is a grade A brand and certainly not $3k worth

firstly quartz is rubbish, dont be spending thousands on quartz

if i had to get a ladies watch i'd get maybe an Omega Aqua Terra Auto… they will hold value and Omega is an AAA+ brand

Tag also make some good ladies auto watches too but i wouldnt spend more than say $2k on them and expect them not to hold value

but put it this way, ask her what she wants… for a woman who doesnt know what is good or bad, I'd steer towards a cheaper Tissot auto for under $1k… they are Swiss, they tend to hold value for what is a cheap watch and really, people dont know the difference.

Also its pointless spending a shitload on say a $5k+ Rolex if the wearer doesnt know the difference.

      • Thanks.

  • go to Rolex website http://www.rolex.com/en

shows all the authorized dealers, obviously Rolex is a better choice then again it is quite expensive in Australia. Definitely Rolex

Buying a watch and wearing it will decrease its value, that is for all brands, unless its those very rare limited watches then it holds it values and increases its value from time to time, also agreed to the other comment saying not to buy quartz, buy mechanical automatic watches.
