Disney+ Turkey Price Increase to TRY 349,90 via Apple Subs

Just got an email this morning advising that the Turkey Disney+ premium will increase from TRY 134 to TRY 349, which is more than 2.5 times. This is absurd.
That is almost the same as the Australian price. Did anyone get this email as well?

  • The writing is on the wall. Disney+ is spiralling ever so quickly towards bankruptcy. Maybe a year or 2 until they got back to the previous model and abandon the service.

    • Their last quarter financial statements suggest otherwise, revenue up, their direct to consumer segment (which includes Disney+) made a bigger operating profit this quarter than it did the entire last financial year. They're not really losing users despite the price continuing to go up.

        Not from me they didn't.

Pretty sure it's making money or at least neutral. At worst it's free branding and marketing - get your kids familiar with Marvel and others so they can then sell you action figures and other crap.

Disney can afford to run it at a loss for a century without giving a shit regardless. They wouldn't be close to bankrupt.

i mean…they could have also just totally kicked you off the service lol

these vpn tricks were never going to last forever, adobe, disney, youtube etc all caught on.
im surprised they would rather have less legit users paying ANY amount , and instead prefer everyone go pirate lol

    • Nah it was not via vpn. Never needed one if you purchase through Turkey Apple ID.

Wasn't this already posted about a week ago?

Inflation in Turkey is really high…

"As of June 2024, Turkey's inflation rate reached over 75%, marking one of the highest in the world. "
    Contributing factors:
Factors like currency devaluation, government policies, Disney+ subscriptions, and rising energy costs have contributed to the high inflation.

    • No mention of Youtube?

      • It's been a problem since 2018…

LOL. Absurd? All things must pass bruh. Especially when ppl go online and advertise the hack in broad daylight.Did you think there's a firewall on Ozb to keep prying Disney of Turkiye eyes out?

  • Just noticed my Turkish subscription is due an annual renewal at this new price.. is there a decent workaround (ie other country), or shall i just sail off to streemio?

  • I'm one of the many who followed the well trodden path of subscribing to Disney+ via Turkiye, and for some reason today when I access the app via a PC on my home network I get "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later. Please go to the Disney+ home page by clicking the button below". If I click the button… it takes me to the same page.

I can access my account if I am on my mobile using 5G.
I can access the content through the Android App, regardless of being on WiFi or Mobile Data.
I can't access the website on my mobile if I am on WiFi.

Is this likely to be a temporary thing, something that I could get my ISP to fix by cycling my IP, or something permanent which would mean cancelling Disney+ is probably the only viable outcome?

    • Facing same issue, did it resolve for you ?

      • I contacted Disney support who helped me get access again. As it is, with the price change I have cancelled the Turkish subscription and will be creating a new Australian subscription once it ends

        • Thanks , I resolved it by just using vpn to connect once and then works without vpn again now.

Even with the price change, it’s still cheaper to run from there tho.. right?

          • @rake: Honestly it's borderline now, this month it was around $13.50AUD for me from Turkey. If I was to grab the annual plan in Aus it's actually a bit cheaper, and means that I would actually get ESPN sports, which I don't seem to get on the Turkey version

          • @rake: I see. I don’t want espn , so turkey still working well for me for an annual plan

  • So any thoughts as to the next best subscription option?

  • So, I got an email re: my Turkey (Apple) Disney+ account.
