CNet review suggested it's "SD bumped up to HD" (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-hc-v10-…).

  • according to specs that doesnt sound right…

    720/50p (15 Mbps / VBR), (1280 x 720/50p)

Wow. If you ever want to see how a video camera performs, make sure you look at a sample indoors. Watch this and make sure you set it to 720p.

Then you'll understand why people say that the quality is poor.
Price is excellent, but the video quality from this camera indoors is a dog.

BTW, I have no idea who made this video. Looks like BestBuy (or similar store) in the states.

FYI - The outdoor video quality on a sunny day looks a lot better :)

I purchased this camera at best buy and it was such a mistake. Advertised as 720p but the video quality is sub par. Video much like this youtube vid is fuzzy and its most definitely not 720 or even close. It was such a mistake, purchased, didnt use it and now im over seas and am unable to return. Panasonic products tend to be reliable and work as advertised from past experiences but this was a total and utter disappointment.

      • Isn't it a fundamental flaw of all video cameras with a small sensor ?
        Just guessing.
In low light condition it has to increase iso, which leads to noise rise, hence a poor quality picture.

  • If you are looking for a good quality Panasonic you would need to go with the V500
