Amply's Hard Ginger Beer Case of 24 × 375mL Cans for $95.25 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Dan Murphy's

40

This is not a cider or wine based bevearage

My favourite alcoholic Ginger Beer. It actually has some spice and decent strength. This is a great price for a slab. Usually $120+

Proudly crafted in Australia, this cloudy and delicious sweet ginger beer will ignite your senses with spicy sophistication. Full-flavoured and refreshing, there is nothing quite like it for an explosive ginger taste.

    Amply's Hard Ginger Beer Can 24 x 375mL | $95.25

How much is their Easy Ginger Beer?

  • What's the regular price? That doesn't seem particularly cheap.

    • Around $4/can for 6.9% lollywater isn't terrible by Australian standards.

      • +1

Except that Amply's is their own brand and for example the cider is like $2/can for 6.9% lol.

This ginger beer is making the contractor and contractee an absolute boatload of money.

        • This isn't cider. Have a look at the tax rates for different drinks. Amply's have a cider and it is similar strength and way cheaper. Cider is taxed similar to wine, not spirits. THis is a pre-mix and a great price at that. It is $120+ anywhere else at any time.

@tommo0468: I just got a 4pk of Brookvale union 6% bourbon and cola at Liquorland for $12.

Also if you want to be a shill for Pinnacle Drinks go ahead but these agreements are literally the shit other suppliers don't want to put their name to and Coles is happy to buy and rebadge.

            • +1

@pennypincher98: I couldn't care less who owns who lol. Normal price = $120 so $95 = Bargain if you like this drink. I was simply pointing out that cider is taxed differently to spirits, hence the price difference. People want best value for money drink some goon….

              • @tommo0468: And I was pointing out the difference between a major brand and a home brand equivalent (Woolies not Coles*) which seems to have gone right over your head.

The ACCC is currently preparing the findings of this exact groups fake "discounts" but it seems you're still eating them right up.

I thought these were very average. Don’t mind the james squires but these were a no for me

(profanity) me alcoholic ginger beer is expensive

    • +1

Yes, never understood why you can get a slab of beer for $50, but never see the alcoholic ginger beer less than $75.

Its a bit like zero alcohol beer that costs the same as regular, but why, as there is no alcohol tax to pay???

      • Spirits are taxed harder than beer.

        • +1

So this isn't brewed alcoholic Ginger Beer!
          Not interested.

          • +1

@INFIDEL: Look, I just think it tastes good lol and it isn't a crappy wine based cider drink like half the cheap drinks are. This is a premium strength pre-mix and at $95 is cheaper that most other RTD's such as Hard rated, Cruisers, etc. Not sure what the liquor is but I think these taste great.

        • Found this https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/gst-exci…

My calculation is that a slab (24x375ml) is 9L and if the alcohol strength was 4% then the tax is about $22 for beer and $37 for other drinks, so I think you're partly right.

Guess they can't class 'Ginger Beer' as 'Beer'!!!

Zero alcohol still seems very overpriced.

My other pet hates are the use of smaller bottles e.g. 330ml and the 16/18 'slabs' rather than the standard 24.

This is massively overpriced for something of their own brand (Pinnacle Drinks).

    • don't get me started, half their stock is now Pinnacle Drinks under another name (just read the back of the bottle) & unsurprisingly they get some very good reviews from some notable 'experts' upon further research said experts often get paid

  • (Alcoholic) Ginger beer is generally made by fermenting a mixture of ginger, water, sugar, cream of tartar, and yeast.

Grew up drinking great tasting, naturally carbonated, non-alcoholic GB - brewed at home.
Have enjoyed wonderful.home made alcoholic GB.

But Amply's Spicy Alcoholic Ginger Beer is not brewed - made alcoholic by adding spirits!
    Basically overpriced premix.

Contains carbonated water, sugar, alcohol, ginger, citric acid, flavors, and preservatives.

    Contract brewed for Pinnacle Drinks.

    • I agree this is just a premix but this price is actually cheap. A slab of the Hard rated is currently $110 at Dans and has significantly weaker alcohol content. This isn't a wine based beverage so not sure why people are saying this isn't a deal. For pre-mix at this strength, it absolutely is.

      • Its a Deal (definitely cheaper) for those who like it.

Certainly has been.recommended to me. But with years of drinking good (often home made) brewed alcoholic Ginger Beer, I'll pass.

People should be aware of ginger ptemixers labelled "Alcoholic Ginger Beer". The alcohol comes from spirits, wine, etc.
Very different to the time honoured (since mid-1700's) method of brewing Ginger Beer!

  • If it's Ginger Beer you seek, do yourself a favour and get some Boston Brewery Tingletop Ginger Beer. You won't go back after these bad boys!

    • I have to disagree on this. i do like a few of Boston's beer offerings, but bought a Tingletop recently and couldn't finish it.
