Was shopping around for a Wall Charger and this was listed as $800. I refreshed the page and suddenly it was $730. Cheapest around and plenty in stock at various stores. I picked one up this morning.

Im a big fan of the ol' 15A wall plug and a 15A portable charger.. My MG4 gets 120km of range in 6 hours @ 0.08c kw. Plenty unless you're driving 600+ km a week.Good for $500 installed.
Sale proceeds will go into funding for Project 2025, GOP thanks you for your contribution…
Trump is treating Canada like an enemy.
Not sure what we have to offer that makes us immune from his tariffs.
He was pretty clear that he wants Canada to become the 51st state, IMHO that's what the tariffs are for. We will be caught in the crossfire with China, and as the prices in the US skyrocket, anything we import from the US will go up as a result. Other than that, we might be too small to be a target, we'll have to wait and see.
Thanks OP, perfect timing
I see a lot use the umc overnight or with 32A, just wondering do you find it a hassle to constantly set it up and pack it up - if you take it in the car wherever you go? Or I guess you just leave it setup 99% of the time and only pack it/take it with you when venturing far or going on a trip somewhere ?
My UMC is just set up in the garage - I don’t really take it out as for interstate trips use the super charger
I dont have a UMC, but I leave my granny charger and type 2 cable at home unless I plan to use it / think I might use it. Would be the same if I had a UMC (or similar non-tesla unit).
The 15A wall plug is the more cost-effective choice. My 2019 Tesla came with the Tesla 7.3m Gen 2 Wall Connector, and I regret paying for its installation. I now benefit from the 8 cents for the 15A charger, which is sufficient to replenish my daily driving needs.

How so? Max rate would be around 3kVA, no?
Are you just comparing the once off installation cost between a 15A outlet vs a proper Tesla Gen2 WC?
If you have solar and a Tesla PW2/3, then it is a different story altogether. This setup is so much nicer
Why would people downvote this comment? He did the salute, twice!
yup
Feel for Tesla owners now, but this company shouldn't be supported by decent people.
Does it come in SS grey? Asking for a friend……
Shame Tesla is ran by a shady individual who aligns himself with Nazi's and cares more about lowering his taxes than the people who might buy his cars, or in this case his chargers. Neg away
Since samsung and Apple no longer include chargers with their phones we may all have to buy one of these charges.
Bunnings hardware, cybertruck warehouse!
Would this be good for a BYD or is this essentially an overpriced ‘dumb’ charger (I use that term as i hear it a lot) I’m in a weird predicament where I am planning an EV purchase in the next couple months and have 13.5kw solar on a 10kw inverter (single phase) but I have really old power lines coming into the property and a power board that needs to also be upgraded. Looking into these chargers and the work needed to get my supply up to spec is starting to add up :/ curious if I should be looking for ‘dumb’ chargers which this appears to be to save some money or if there’s any other suggestions out there
It's actually one of the more affordable three phase chargers around.
You can find cheaper, but most will be single phase 7kw - which is probably sufficient for most people, but will be a bit slower than some cars would get from three phase (11kw, or 22kw in some rare cases).
A lot of BYD cars can only charge at 7kw AC, so wouldnt be able to make use of the higher three phase charging anyway. Will depend on which BYD (I think Sealion 7 might be the first one that does 11kw?).
So: not overpriced per se, but could be excessive to your needs / you could potentially get away with an even cheaper single phase charger.
It's a well priced charger and good quality, but it is essentially dumb. Doesn't natively support solar-aware charging or OCPP yet. However, you can control the charging using third party applications such as ChargeHQ or EVCC if you have a Tesla EV. I use EVCC.
Yeah I am starting to see that potentially i can do all the smarts out of HomeAssistant, will have to look into both ChargeHQ and EVCC. At the moment my FIT offsets my overnight usage so I suppose it’ll be much of a muchness with ‘excess solar’ in my case. I think I’m up for a bit of $$$$ to bring my board and wires into the property up to code so was just seeing if it’s worth saving a bit on the type of charger or not
Problem is you have to salute it in that oh so special Elon way to get it to work. YMMV.
