Want but greed is getting to me.
Need a price match and coupons at big w or JB

  • +9

I wouldn't go off an IGN review if I was you… their review integrity is questionable at best.

Better off looking at Metacritic and checking the aggregate reviewer and user score.

    https://www.metacritic.com/game/split-fiction/

    • -5

Nothing wrong with IGN reviews, usually anything that is not CoD will get 7/10 reviews so just +1.5 for the real score

      • -1

Or Forza games which they rate the best game ever with no obvious flaws…

      • +3

Agree to disagree… just look at Dragon Age: The Veilgurd <vomit>… or more importantly Alien: Isolation.

    • -2

So the metacritic is basically in line with the IGN review. Did you even bother to check?

      • +4

        "aggregate reviewer AND user score."

    • -2

goes off on integrity but uses metacritic as a reference
      pepega

opencritic is what you use, not metacritic

Need a deal on a second dualsense to go with this

Pre-ordered to support the studio for more split screen coop games, they're getting rarer and rarer.

    • +1

      Borderlands 4 coming soon

    • Same, I pre-ordered back in early Feb with Amazon hoping they might send it early so it would arrive on release day but being in WA I'm not holding out much hope - will probably arrive next week :/

      • +1

WA do same day free If you spend over 50 so should be covered!

        • Just checked My Orders and Amazon hasn't even shipped it yet so not looking good lol

In hindsight should have gone with the Big W one for $53.10 as mentioned here

      • +1

Mine arrived release day in WA! I’m still working through it takes two with my kid so prob won’t even play for a while but wanted to support the team making this. Overcame the OzB pull of waiting for a solid price drop!

    • +2

Definitely not only that but fun.

    • +2

I will never forgive Microsoft for removing split screen from Halo. Both competitive and coop.

      • +1

The bastards had the audacity to say they learnt from Halo 5 that all Halos going forward would have split screen coop…

        Still waiting.

        • +1

And they had it running in Infinite! There was a hack/glitch to get it going but they removed the ability to use it properly. A shame.

    Any deals for pc version?

While the aggregate reviews are great - there is consensus that the story is a disservice for the game. Get the game if you're into innovative mini-games, strong design, boss battles and minute-by-minute gameplay changes - if you liked It Takes Two, this is even more of that.

However, don't go in there expecting more than a Disney-lite tale excuse to string together many gameplay sequences.

It can only be played with a friend, but if you don't have one, you can gift a "friend" copy via Friend Pass, or join Hazelight's Discord to make new friends.

        What a horrible take.

          • +10

@Kingfield: This is such a braindead take. The story literally centers around the impact of two toxic parents fractured relationship on their daughter. The fact you then feel it necessary to have a go at those who relate to this unfortunately extremely common scenario is poor form. Who shat in your weetbix this morning?

          • -1

@Kingfield: As said above, my read was that the characters were meant to be toxic and it was about their fractured relationship and their individual toxic traits impacted their daughter's life and how the daughter interpreted everything. Maybe that's not relatable for you, but it is for many people when looking at their parents.

        • +4

Yeah, so weird.. The gameplay was really great and the levels were beautiful.

The only thing that left an impression about the story was the elephant scene 🥲

      • Eh?

"It takes two" isn't a story, it's based on true events.

  • +3

Loved it takes two so I'm looking forward to this.

  • +1

Just checked Metacritic, and holy shit this is absolutely going into the running for GoTY.
Josef Fares is probably gonna take home TWO awards if there's nothing else that breaks the Metacritic 90's.

  • +3

Love Hazelight games. Looking forward to this one!

  • +1

    Cheaper at Target & HN

    • Unless you have prime, then its free delivery and doesn't cost you effort to go to HN. Target is the same price?

    • +9

Two female leads and one is black; seems very spooky you should definitely avoid 👻

    • +3

Two girls are named after creator's two daughters.

    • +3

Is this game woke? The story?

Avoiding games because your main criteria is that the story doesn't contain empathy ?

My good man, that is ridiculous.

      • +4

I know what you are saying but think about it this way.
Perhaps people are sick and tired of every second game (and movie) trying to force an agenda down their throats. We get it your game studio is so virtuous, virtue signalling, now can we get back to focusing on making good games rather than pushing ideologies (from either side of the political spectrum).
I play games to escape reality, not be lectured by cultural marxists, for ~30hours in a game as well as in all other forms of media these days.
No wonder the latest stats from Sony show 40% of all games being played are older games… You know back when a games primary focus was to be fun as opposed to send a message…. I think more people than you realise are getting fed up with it too, regardless of their political leaning.

        • -1

Art has been used to push ideologies and ideas for as long as it's existed, and that includes games. Just because you were too dense to pick up on it in old games, doesn't mean it wasn't there.

          • +3

@gotoadgo: Just because your too dense to realise that this is not an individual, or small collective, portraying their artisitc integrity and ideas, as opposed to a giant corporation being told they will make more sales if they push a message and meet arbitrary, imaginary, unquantifiable "ESG" metrics.
Sorry to break it to you kiddo but Ubisoft and hazelight aren't independent art studios, they get huge investments from the likes of Blackrock and are forced to maintain a certain quota for "ESG" and push the same ideological agenda that is mindlessly parroted across all media.
I think you need to be slightly more informed as to what happens in the media you consume before making 1 dimensional arguments.
This isn't individuals or small production teams artistic integrity, it's part of a larger agenda.
But then again I'm pretty "dense" apparently, observant perhaps, but also "dense". Thanks for the childish name calling mate, very productive.

          • +2

@gotoadgo: Yeah, like how Pac-Man may seem like a simple arcade game about a little yellow circle gobbling up dots. But a deeper analysis reveals that it's actually a powerful metaphor for late-stage capitalism, gender nonconformity, and the oppressive surveillance state. Pac-Man was also revolutionary for challenging traditional gender norms by being a circular being with no distinct features, neither adhering to masculine nor feminine stereotypes. When Ms. Pac-Man was introduced, she was only Pac-Man with a bow, reinforcing that gender presentation is just a construct. Clearly, Pac-Man exists beyond the gender binary, existing instead as a non-binary, pansexual, dot-consuming icon. Ironically, the only way to truly win Pac-Man is to refuse to play the game - a revolutionary call to dismantle the system and build a dot-free, ghost-free utopia.

Can get it for $30 if you buy 2 copies of Far Cry 6 from JB for $30 and then trade to EB for nothing extra.

Worked for me last week, the games you trade has to have a $10 minimum trade value so call EB and ask for the trade value before you buy.

    • Where did you see that Split Fiction can be traded? Cause I can’t see it

    • Thanks for the heads up

    • Just did this. Thank you! :-)

  • Cheapest is $73.90 on ps5

  • -1

I don't have a friend to play with.

  • Anyone's copy shipped yet? I know receiving on release day is uncommon for Amazon, but was at least hoping to be able to play it this weekend.

    • I got mine release day, ordered the day prior

      • I also ordered the day prior, and it just shipped. Luck of the draw I guess…
