YouTube Download content

Since Youtube has put a block on downloading content.
I've been using Youtube4KDownloader and adblocker for years on Firefox.

I'm not interested in paid downloads.

I have now tried many DL 'ers without success.
Is there any viable altenatives ?

      • Yeah, but can it watch a channel and download new videos as they are posted, you know, like a subscription?

Stacher works great. It's a user interface that uses @askbargain's tool above under the hood, but is much more user friendly.

    • Does it work for videos that are not available in your region? 4k video downloader plus doesn't work for these videos.

      I don't use VPN.

I doubt it - most of these tools use the same thing under the hood, so would have the same limitations

Assuming you mean Internet Download Manager, this is what I use.

It has a pop up on youtube videos where you can just click to download, and even let you choose the quality. It is not free tho but there are ways to get it for those who sail the seas.

      • Yeah, that’s it mate, download everything in multiple streams, and always download it really quick

  • "4K Video Downloader" worked last time i used it not long ago. it gets regular updates

    • 4K Video Downloader Plus now.

    Jdownloader

    • I appreciate Jdownloader because whenever YT changes their algorithm I wait a few days and Jdownloader has it cracked.

I use both 4K Video Downloader (discontinued) and 4K Video Downloader+ because I want to subcribe to feeds and get all the videos in chronological order as they come out and not see videos more than once, something YouTube is incapable of doing.

I could say a lot on the topic but your post is very short and I have no idea what your use case is.

If your use case is I want to download a video here and there, then a simple google search will provide you with an answer. If your use case is more like mine, then I don't know of any other solution apart from what I'm currently doing.

I will check out some of the other suggestions though. The last time I did that they were either extremely complicated to set up, or extremely limited in functionality or were trying to do way too much. I just want a bunch of videos downloaded regularly. I don't need a 'media centre' and I don't want to have to download everything manually either. 4K was the only one that sat nicely in the middle of all that.

  • I use Open Video Downloader (this repo as the original is no longer updated) when on my PC and https://cobalt.tools/ when I'm on my phone, but the latter should work when on your PC as well. You also don't need to download the latter as it's just a website.
