You can get the GOG version slightly cheaper via key shops ($55) but nine bucks to not deal with shady Turkish stores and for smooth steam deck integration and cloud saves is well worth it imo.

Cue that guy who whinges on every post about Steam.

Why would you buy it on Steam for more than the GOG version when GOG actually lets you own your games? GOG is DRM-free and can you download your games and keep them forever while Steam is only selling you a licence. You don't own your games on Steam, and who knows what will happen to your games if Gaben ever decides to sell Steam or die. Paying extra for DRM is crazy.

      Something like that? XD

      • +3

That's a big dilemma that I sometime have too. Nice to actually own the game files, but Steam is nice for the achievements, steam workshop as well as almost 2-click play for Linux users.

      • +5

I'm ngl, most people don't care about DRM-free and probably prefer the convenience and services offered by Steam. But it is still good GOG is an option for those who do care.

      • I agree, however if you don't like to use key sellers the choice is pretty easy - Steam. Considering GOG is selling the game for $89.95 & ultimate edition is $119.

      • You could also download the Steam game, download a crack, and keep them forever while also having them on Steam. Win-win, no?

      • +1

GOG also only sell you a licence to use the software. The difference is their delivery of the software - it is not encumbered or managed by an additional later like the Steam platform. That means it is harder for the licence owner to revoke your usage rights, but it is still possible for them to do so.

      • GOG is good but ps controller support is not so somwthing to consider if planning to use one.

    • What if I have the main game on Steam but want to buy Phantom Liberty on GOG? What that still work?

  • +1

    Playing it and loving it!

this is still a must have game I will say that on a 5070 ti you can run this game maxed out with RT at 1440p and get between 60 and 80fps its beautiful

if you run it at 4k how ever you will get about 30 fps thats with RT on.

ofcourse if you turn off RT its you 100fps plus but you don't get the full sexyness of the game :d

    • +2

And for those of us with a potato 2070 super. What will we run it at

      • you defiantly wouldn't be able to run this with RT on at 4k :D

    • There are settings that can improve frame rates by 30% with minimal changes to quality. Im getting 4K/60fps on screen and VR with 3000x3000 pixels simultaneously. Raytracing is mainly ultra and everything else Ultra/High on a last gen 4070 Ti S. Disappearing buildings and useless NPC's makes this game shit though.

yeah I don't do AI or any time of scaling sh$t has to be native maxed out settings or bust.

  • +1

Awesome game, super polished now and great value

    • yeah I wished i waited back when it got released I pretty much played and finished in 2 days after release. It was the most buggy game I ever played lol. back then it was on a 5600 xt too so it was so low on the frames lol

      • The hype train was insane back then… The disappointment even bigger

        • +1

I know a mate that got the massive collectors edition for it with the big statue you got with it, it was sick.

  • +2

Is the DLC worth it from the outset?

    • Given the price just buy it. You will want to play the DLC when you finish the main game, it leaves you wanting more for sure. And thats after 150 hours of play

    • +1

Yes I regretted not buying it to start with

    • YES. Hell yes.

i don't ever buy DLC, but after almost finishing the base game i wanted to support the devs and bought Phantom Liberty. I did not have any expectation…

And boy oh boy, it's the best DLC by far.

  • only thing I hated about it was no 3rd person view

  • My 3080Ti can barely handle it unfortunately. I’m gonna have to buy it for my ps5 pro when there’s a sale

    • +1

What settings are you trying to play at? Are you not using upscaling or something? Do you have path tracing enabled?

    • I play happily at 4k 60fps high with dlss balanced with a RTX3070, maybe try DLSS? You can barely see the difference and the frame increase is way high.

If you already have dlss and still cant play, go upgrade your CPU maybe.

      • Starting to think my CPU is the issue but it’s an 11700K. I wouldn’t have expected it to struggle so soon. I could barely get 60fps on 1440P. DLSS barely helped. I’d get frame drops at times that made it uncomfortable to play.

Even at 1080P low settings it wasn’t going past 100 fps

  • +1

After all the patches and updates it's a damn good game. With the Phantom Liberty expansion being 10/10

  • Think I paid $68 or so pre Christmas. Funny thing is I have barely made any progress after doing the tutorial as I keep dying early on LOL. However I've played it for 40+ hours as purely a background screensaver - proof here: https://imgur.com/Yy4HweI

Also I can't really tell if it's graphical glitches pushing my 4070 graphics card of it the game is meant to glitch out "tech wise" at times.

    • +1

That’s odd. Normal play mode is very forgiving - you’re almost always overmatched against enemies.

Maybe try the tutorial again and avoid the cyberpsychos till you’ve levelled up a bit? Don’t forget to keep using attribute and peek points for new skills.

  • Is this like GTA V?

    • GTA V in a future setting, yes.

    • With much more RPG elements

Not really too similar besides the open world and guns.

  • Anyone know if I can transfer my xbox series x save to the pc version? I remember reading that it had cross platform saving

    • Not only can you transfer the save, you can sync it. Play it on PC, then go back to your Xbox later and pick up where you left off. It's great!

      • how does that work? works with steam games?

        • Yes. You sign into your CD Projekt Red account in both, and it cloud saves for you.

  • +2

Waiting for the Phantom Liberty DLC to drop to like $20.. I can't believe it hasn't by now to be honest!

  • I bought the xbox version but haven't played much. Tempted to get on steam…but only have a 1080 and steamdeck. So not sure if worth just yet…

    Also need to finish RDR2!

Unless someone wants to enable me.

  • If i own the gog version can i sync saves to steam if i buy this? Got a steam deck and keen to play it on the go.
