MINERALLY

90 points, Wine Pilot. "The colour is a shining pale lemon and the nose moves right into tropical notes with gooseberries, citrus, dry herbs and a minerally support. This is simple but satisfying. A wine of medium length with a clean finish, it is an ideal poolside style for drinking now."

Region: Limestone Coast

Story: Sauvignon Blanc is a green-skinned grape variety originating from France’s Bordeaux region but it now grown around the world. This grape gets its name from the French words Sauvage, meaning wild and blanc, meaning white. Sauvignon Blanc or Sauv Blanc as we Aussies like to call it is our most popular dry white wine. This one is from the Limestone Coast and it is a crisp and fresh style wine which is enjoyed chilled. So to cut a long story short, it’s a wine you need to try!

Nose: The nose offers vibrant aromas of lemon sherbet, pawpaw and kiwi fruit.

Palate: The palate is crisp and refreshing with notes of gooseberries, tropical fruits and lime.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2027

Winemaker: Bec Hardy

    59% off

More accurate would be 10% off ($1 off per bottle…)

    https://web.archive.org/web/20241212020410/https://bechardy.…

    (RRP $264)

Price comparisons to RRP when you do not normally sell at RRP are deemed by ACCC and deceptive and misleading…

……. and comments from jv are deemed by the general public as idiotic and pointless

      • -1

are deemed by the general public

        source ?

        as idiotic and pointless

Price for this dozen was previously $120, and now $108…

@dav3 Would just point out, the page is a hidden, temporary page that can't be navigated to by anyone unless you have the URL. Only turned on for OzBargain this morning. Happy for the report to be made to the ACCC or SA Trading Standards. @dav3 if you could please do it or report to the moderators, I'd be grateful so we can put this nonsense to bed :-)

        • -1

" put this nonsense to bed"

Not sure how nonsense is JV's comment, but the claimed RRP from wine sellers are definitely nonsense, be it a big seller like DM or smaller boutique ones.

P.S. the link/webpages on the WWW are constantly trawled by bots.

          • -1

@Flutterby: They are basically comparing to purchasing a dozen single bottles which is definitely deceptive and misleading…

According to OP's logic, Dan murphy should compare their slabs of VB to (RRP $143.76) since they sell each can for $5.99.

          • -1

@Flutterby: Be careful if you post anything not praising this deal, Rep may 'report you to the moderators' 🤣

            • @jv: That I wouldn't comment. Suspect a mate would have bought a case of 12 at RRP.

In fact, many incidents won't take a lot of effort for a competition lawyer to put a good case together.

Unfortunately, ACCC is so under funded that they are rather selective on cases to pursue.

The blessing of ACL is that individuals taking cases to NCAT for isolated cases gives a much better odd than overseas jurisdictions in which consumer protection laws is non existent.

Speaking from experience, by the sound of it, JV.

Oh well, if I am gone, farewell. So far the mods on OzBargain has been okay, with the exception of Tesla deals (ahem, spam). Probably more lenient than WP if you ask me.

No nonsense from me RD, I've always supported the way you do things. jv is the one rambling about RRP and ACCC

            @dav3:

I've always supported the way you do things jv

            thanks.

          • @dav3: @dav3 absolutely understood and know you’re a long time supporter. Was just hoping you could do the honour of reporting us for all the alleged infractions:-))

    • Long time Lurker. First time poster. And yes I only just joined today.

I have no affiliation with or interest in this brand. I actually buy more wine more regularly from other brands but I do buy wine from this brand.

I might point out that they do normally sell wine at RRP as that is I how I obtain it from their cellar door and how customers in markets like the UK do too.

I've never once purchased a discounted wine because their 95 point and 98 point quality is deserving of the price point as is Wirra Wirra Gemtree Darenberg Hugh Hamilton Mollydooker and all the rest.

I'm a bit too busy eating with my friends at their two star hatted restaurant and other similar establishments (also which aren't discounted) and supporting well managed award winning Australian businesses as opposed to your role of being the antagonistic ozb field marshall nit picking on deals with thousands of posts and obviously nothing better to do with your time. Give it a rest son
As Dav3 says below. Idiotic and pointless.

      • Whose willing to bet rather than having a wine with mates he's on his phone with alerts in seconds to down vote and post a comment no will care about.

  • @Sixty9pcGent kind words thank you. Sorry for the slow reply - been at a long lunch! You’re entirely right, I’m not entirely sure some understand the scope of the family history or the brands.

Heritage & Scale: Producing 750,000+ bottles annually across three premium brands and commercial labels.

Global Trust: Supplying major partners like Costco (US, Australia), Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Finnair, Air Canada and Cathay Pacific.

Award-Winning Wines: Highly rated by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and James Suckling.

Sustainability & Responsibility: Certified Sustainable with a commitment to eco-friendly viticulture. Family owned and operated.

Accolades & Recognition: Bec Hardy Wines has earned numerous awards and recognition, including accolades for our exceptional restaurant rated Two Hats and in the top 1% of Australian restaurants.

Now, off to dinner. Have a great weekend:-)

    • Excellent to see a once humble wine maker that is now thriving on the global stage post COVID and yet haven't forgotten to splash the OzBargain community with generous deals.

Not to forget the numerous awards to reflect how well the wines are regarded by some of the world's most renowned wine critics.

To be frank, not a bad story to tell aside from misleading and deceptive conduct on the amount of savings offered. Facts are like different to the current case brought by ACCC against Colesworth.

Go you hardest. Easy to be a keyboard warrior here but please do feel very welcome to make a formal complaint to the relevant authorities. :-)

Ah har. You are back from dinner.

Well, need to test out the new tactile keyboard somehow, I guess.

@Flutterby: Not so. At dinner at Adelaide Oval. Also just self reported the post to the moderators. Off for a glass of Yalumba Chardonnay. Have a great weekend. :-)

@RD ADL: You are almost as addicted to ozbargain as JV

              • +2

@Flutterby: Two major differences. I live a rich and fulfilled life and I get paid to be here. :-)

                • @RD ADL: Priceless. And not 59pc off :-)

                • @RD ADL: Oh well. Don't think JV gets paid to be on OzBargain and is the top negative vote scorer. Though, I am sure he/she is finding it equally fulfilling.

Not sure about the rich part. Could be?

      • -1

@jv @flutterby This is liquid gold once the local media gets hold of this misleading and deceptive advertising. To Cut a Long Story Short it’s sadly the beginning of the end of Bec Hardy Wines I feel…

        #The Advertiser

I get paid to be here. :-)

@RD ADL That can’t be fair to the other wine sellers here…

        • -1

Lol. Circus in town enjoy the show

        • Using the media is low (though it works very well).

OP is proud of partnering with the big Asian names. From experience, the Asian names are not keen on caught up with negative publicities as they are very proud of what's (namely branding and avoiding negative publicity) been built up over the years. Can imagine the Casella family would need to work extra hard to get some partnership going with listed Asian big names.

In terms wether it is an infringement of the ACL. Will leave ACCC to do what they do (if they do). Who knows. Ultimately the court interprets the law.

"That can’t be fair to the other wine sellers here…"
Not necessarily, if the name is big enough to attract people, it is fair. It's a commercial relationship after all. It works both ways. OP is hardworking, going all out on a Friday night with over time.

The level of pettiness amongst some OzBargainers is staggering.

Long may you wallow in it…

          • +1

            @UncleRico: @UncleRico And clearly uninformed

  • I like their wines, had a budget red blend of theirs last night, as it happens. Will definitely buy again in the future.
