[RESOLVED] iPad cellular SIM tray can't open

Hi. I got a new iPad last week and am having trouble getting the Sim tray to open. Got it at Myer Canberra but am based in Melbourne.

Who can I go to, to get help opening the Sim tray in the western suburbs? The apple stores are in shopping centres in the eastern and south eastern suburbs, which is a long trek for me and I have a 3 month old which makes it hard to get around.

Thanks for any suggestions. :-)

  • Tried looking for a youtube video of how to insert a sim?

    • youtube clip makes it look easy… they say just push and then it pops out… I am pushing and pushing the pin and nothing happens except my thumb gets a bit sore. :P

  • Sometimes it can be a bit fiddly.. have a look here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5163

    • Looked there before, still can't get it to work.

  • I have the latest iPad and the gen 1, you need to use a slightly offset angle with with the pin on the latest version, and push hard. The first time I opened my current iPad I had to use a paper clip as I couldn't get enough downward force with the included tool.

    • I can't believe it… success!!! I tried doing it at an angle before but it didn't work. Eventually it was persisting with the pushing hard at an angle… thanks all!
