Looks like it's a choice between the $300 rewards or the $0 fee for 12 months - fee is listed as $8/mth otherwise.

    • +1

      Thanks! Updated the post.

  • +1

The Bonus $300 and the $0 monthly fee for 12 months are different offers - you have to choose one or the other.

    • Thanks! Updated the post.

Ahhh.. Lost 90% of customers by introducing monthly fee… Now trying to get them back… No deal

    • +1

Yep, cancelled mine 3 days ago, I'm a bit slow

  • +14

Not going back to these lot.

  • +9

Not including travel insurance is asinine considering all the imagery and promotional association that this card is a travel focused card.

  • +25

    28 customers left

    • +3

Pretty sure more than that. I terminate when they start charging monthly fee.

      • +1

Id say a lot left after the hacking fiasco.

        • +12

I think they mean left=remaining, not left=departed. The English language is funny like that.

          • @segap21: Correct :)

          • @segap21: Yeah I was meaning that a lot left after the hacking , wouldn't be much of an impact if only 28 people left and the rest remained 😅

  • +1

Despite not liking them for adding monthly fees, what’s defined as a new member? Am I blind, couldn’t see in T&Cs

  • +7

I'm not going back to this lot till they fire their product manager.

    • +16

And make a payment system that actually works.

      1. You can't pay off pending amounts
      2. Can't make a payment more than once every 5 days
      3. You'd better pay it 3 days in advance for it to clear
      4. All sorts of shit only happens as the clock strikes midnight, much of it isn't updated during the day like it should be
      5. Sometimes you need to wait until after midnight for some arbitrary process to happen that lets you do basics like pay your balance

I don't think there is a credit card company that has gotten their system so fundamentally wrong. It's like it was coded by a child as a high school project

      • +7

that's where you're wrong, the system is intentionally designed to make it difficult for you to pay your bills and introduce as many fees and hurdles as possible.

on that front, it's doing a good job

      • +3

I cannot stress enough how bad their products are, a lot to do with what you've mentioned here. They make paying their cards intentionally obtuse. It took me 18 months fighting them and the credit reporting bodies because they listed me late on payments that were made a week in advance, etc. Made a mess of my credit for 18 months until it was all removed from my file. Do not touch Latitude products with a 10ft pole. Further to that, the data leak was disgraceful. I had a family member that bought something from Harvey Norman 20 YEARS AGO, that they paid off in 1 month who go their data taken in that leak. Disgraceful company.

        • They never told me of the leak…

          • @justtoreply: Don't worry, several extremely prominent universities had massive leaks in 2022 and 2023 and decided not to tell anyone until over a year later. They knew about it, knew that employees, grad students, etc, had TFNs, passport, drivers licence, banking details, etc, all stolen and neglected to tell literally anyone. 18 months later they sent out a brief letter with no further information, other than sorry, our bad. Absolutely insane.

Star Group had a massive leak not long ago either, though that one appears to be an ex employee.

            • @MeatyOne: Star group? Constant leak… Of money.

              • @jrvb42: Star Group leaked the phone numbers, addresses, licences, passports, etc, of nearly everyone that has a card with them, which is almost everyone that has spent a night out at the casino and signed up.

      • They do let you put in a custom amount higher than the balance to pay off pending, but nor by much, maybe $2-400 extra.

        • -1

It's $200. It's inadequate and fundamentally flawed vs just coding the appropriate solution.

I use Macquarie Transaction debit mastercard now, no account fees, no international purchase fees, no ATM or withdrawal fees at any ATM in Oz, even pub ATMs they refund you the fee, no fees at international ATMs (unless the foreign bank charges it)… and they pay you 2.5% interest on the balance on it no conditions

    • Yeah but it's a debit card, many places won't accept it for a deposit. There's also no EftPos on a Macquarie Debit Card eg can't use the cheaper rate at Aldi or Medicare rebates etc ) I have one, as well as the Mqcquarie Black Credit Card.

Also isn't interest rate they pay on cash in your account 4.75% ?

      • Savings is 4.75, transaction is 2.5, compared with every other transaction account at the majors being 0.01 or 0. I get it’s a debit card but so is wise (I have that too) and every other travel money card.
I use MAC for the savings and fee free international and atms. The bonus rates at the majors are a scam, it’s essentially a never ending term deposit you have .

  • +7

Terrible company benefits for new customers and shaft for current customers with a 27% interest rate to boot

    • +2

They are paying me $120 a year to use the card…..while i dont pay an international transaction fees
…..and who pays interest anyways! If you are paying interest, this is not the card for you.

      • +2

Enshitification at every turn in the last number of years, if you are after benefits you should look at other cards to be honest.

        • Why give up something that works perfectly for what people got it for in the first place - overseas travel. I have several debit backups, but this is one of very few (if any) credit card options available.

        • +1

I've gotten $1200 back in Price protection claims this 3 months + they credited me $96 for a 1 year fee free. The $8 fee doesn't bother me as I make the monthly spend.

But if I didn't have shoppers protection then I wouldn't keep it.

      • They are charging you $96 in fees, so really you are being paid $24/year to use it.

        • +1

I was one of those people that stayed around a few more weeks and I have 12 months of free fees 😀. People can still work the system and use stacked advantages. When those advantages runout we can them move on to the next best thing.

The offer as it stands isnt a bad offer, you just need to travel to take advantage of its main benefit which is fee free……and for the lucky existing ones price protection.

  • Is it just me or where do they hide the current promos
ie: $x back if you spend $y @ Ampol by 19 Aug
Or do you have to rely on the email they sent weeks ago.
    😉

    • +1

Need to rely on emails, not hidden in app anywhere

      • Thanks grasstown

  • Monthly fee… pass.

    Are there any other alternatives?

    • +1

I'm not interested in rewards, just good currency conversion. Transferred to Bendigo Ready and working well so far. Even has a simple bsb and account number to make the payment.

  • +1

How the heck is this a deal?

  • +1

lol, nice try 28D… now you want people back?

  • +1

Pathetic efforts and also a confirmation that they made their bed by introducing the monthly fee, and now they're sleeping in it.

  • +1

I see a lot of Johnny come lately types in the comments who don’t have price protection.

  • +1

They really need to add free travel insurance now they’re charging a monthly fee

  • +1

I left them when they introduced $8/month fee. Otherwise it was a good card to use o/seas.

  • +2

nice try 28D, terrible company, not going back there.

  • +2

It's a POS company - even their bills are dodgy - they have the minimum payment highlighted (and the total in far less prominent text), just to trick a few extra people into paying interest.

I finally quit when they introduced their monthly fees.

  • Apart from the interminable wait for Bendigo to process my application, they've been solid.

Can't believe that I took so long to abandon an organisation that has been so careless in handling customer data and then had the temerity to reneg on the 'never any annual fees' promise.

I pity people who put money into their share float - it's been more of a 'sink' and down over 50% since launch.

No barge pole would be long enough. This is a 'Fat Berg' of a deal.

    • +1

I mean to Bendigo's credit, they had 80% of 28 degrees customers sign up in one go. They got swamped. I'm sure the processing time isn't as long these days.

      • True. But they took so long that they had to ask me to resubmit proofs because they were too old by the time that they came to assess my application!

  • Monthly fee currently waived, and get $10 in rewards if $1k spent during month. Plus they have regular incentives (spend $5k in 3 months for $200 rewards). Also a few other perks, which were just enough to keep me from cancelling when the monthly fee was announced.

  • absolutely waste of time and a bit of a rant. tldr; customer service is absolutely garbage!

talked to the customer service agent after being accepted of the credit card application and just asked for the terms and conditions of the $300 cashback. Spent 20 minutes connecting to an agent and another 30 minutes only to be told that the terms and conditions of the offer changes daily and that I needed to submit a form and attach a screenshot of the cashback offer. Link was provided https://latitudefs.zendesk.com/hc/en-au/requests/new?ticket_… but nowhere does it have the attachment. I can't believe they don't have the offer directly linked to the account. If I'm going to waste 1 hr talking to a customer service agent just to clarify the cashback requirements, I doubt having to chase up on the $300 cashback after fulfilling the requirements will waste precious time.

    • +1

I had the same terribile experience with them recently. didn't get the rewards after completed the offer. emailed and talked to their customer service for multiple times. they just keep finding excuses and asked me to sumbit the screenshot of the offer. even after submitting the screenshot, they still haven't given me the rewards after 2 months chasing.

  • Just received an SMS from them: Let's cut to the chase, …we miss you and want you back! That's why we've waived the monthly card fee for 2 years. But hurry, offer ends 28 May 2025. Check your inbox to learn more or call 13 10 24 for support.

    • Surely not?

Their brilliant approach to being the best in the business should mean that people are lining up in their thousands to get this super product!

      /s

      • Haha, are you a panican?

I held my cool, toughed it out…..now no fees, and enough spreading of overseas spend for a few $10 woolies cards.

Its actually not about the business, its about what i get out of the product. And for some of us who stayed there is no better product and benefit on the market :)

        • For me it's too little too late. I've already moved on to a NAB Signature and another Star Alliance card. It's not like there's a lack of options out in the market.

          • @clubhonda: The star alliance card has transaction fees! And the NAB has more fees. There isnt many options same as 28D apart from bendigo!

            • @Coops1: Priorities changed this year. I'm more interested in travelling and these 2 cards have perks that work well for that purpose. The SA card has fast track SA Gold status, while the NAB card is helpful for replenishing QFF points. Just received the notice that 90k pts will be credited which is ok. The 28 degrees card has over the years been stripped of many of the benefits that made it great. I only kept it for convenience until some pencil-pusher in their team decided to push it too far and lost most of us.

  • Don't bother wasting your time. I applied and they couldn’t confirm whether the promotion was applied to my account. They still charge $8 per month, even though it's supposed to be waived. If you try using the chat support, they just tell you to call and when you call, they're no help either.
