  • this one has some unique properties, like fairly low stack even tho it looks thick, unusual thicker midfoot vs heel, and incredibly soft foam that might lead to bottom out easily

    • +1

I tried these a few weeks ago and it has the curved heel so feels super weird for walking and casual use.

      • +2

That’s because they’re designed for running. They’re a tempo shoe so there’s a bit of a rocker to it designed to help your foot roll forward.

  • +4

Great deal on a decent shoe. I've clocked 400km on mine, mostly for tempo runs, so will grab another pair.

      • +16

Sounds like they like them that much their getting in early whilst on sale don't you think?

        • +5

Yep I should have been clearer. They are hardly worn, but for this price it's worth stocking up I think!!

        • Yep that's the way it's done!

        • they're*

      • +1

The longevity of the foam differs brand to brand, formula to formula. You can't say 'i wear blah and it lasted blah, so it's better'. I would argue this is NB's Fuelcell formula (a variant that's non-race) but still relatively soft and bouncy but it's sacrificed longevity.

    • Thanks for sharing. Do you have any feedback on how they handle non-techincal trails? Like just a few tree roots here and there.

  • +1

My knees and ankles start to get sore doing distance more than 10km. No such problem with my Nimbus or SL2. Just feedback that it's not really for easy/recovery/LSD, so don't get Rebel if that's what you are after. NB has More and 1080 for that.

    • Could be the low drop rather than the foam.

  • +1

Thanks OP, been eyeing a pair for ages. Prefer the orange ones, but can't complain for 50% off!

    • -3

I like the orange too .. don't buy the hideous blue

      • +6

Don't tell him what to do

        • Don’t tell him what to do

  • +1

Sizes starting to run out. Sizing select-able in drop down but delivery and pickup options becomes Unavailable for sizes 9 ,9.5. didn't bother trying other sizes.

  • Will this help me to run fast 4km times? I have a race event on
Mother’s Day in Melbourne on the tan track where half the course is uphill. I am running slower times due to exhaustion and need every edge I can get.

    • +10

this will give you the biggest bang for buck .. https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/nike-mens-aeroswift-elite-en…

      • +1

        Definitely bang worthy

        • Worthy of a bang!

    • Good grip and pretty light, my size 9 is from memory 215g each. Lets you turn over and maintain cadence more easily. So…maybe. At 4km I would go with something even thinner like Takumi Sen but you would need to pay a premium.

  • +4

Lots of sizes. But says delivery unavailable?

  • +1

    They don’t deliver 💔

  • These quicker than kinvara 14?

If so might grab a pair

    • I would say no. Different foam and taller (I think)

  • +1

Delivery unavailable! No stock in NSW to click and collect either.

  • How heavy are these? I've got the Nike ZoomX Invincible Run and they're starting to look a bit ragged. Didn't mind then for everyday use but they make it feel like I'm running with ankle weights on and probably going to be in the market with something much more lightweight.

    • These are light. Size 9 215g which is why lots of people use it as a tempo show.

  • No delivery no pickup available. No deal for me.

  • Are these stable enough for pronating runners?

    • I over pronate and tried these on and ran on a treadmill with them and found my ankle caved in with them. I think they're a bit narrow in the midfoot to offer stability

      • Thanks. Will skip these then.

        • If you're after any recommendations for overpronation (more exxy than these) I bought the Asics Novablast 5 and Superblast 2 and they are the business. They're more a neutral stable shoe (no rods on the medial) but have a wider midfoot and more support there

          • @wce2018: Both of the models you mentioned above are on sale for 20% off at Rebel too. I haven't tried either of them, but am tempted to buy the SB2 based on reviews.

            • +1

@eman13: I've been through about 8 pairs of shoes trying to find the perfect fit for me (training for Melbourne Marathon) and I've found the Superblast really are the jack of all trades, they are expensive though but thoroughly worth it

              • @wce2018: Do you have any suggestions for a neutral running shoe for someone that wears orthotics?

                • @dtox: I think most will do you OK, the two I mentioned above will be good, ASICS Gel Nimbus 27 are very good too. Do you wear orthotics due to over pronation?

  • How's the sizing? I have wide feet. I have ordered my usual size 6.5. I am wondering if I should size up? Cheers

    • +1

I take a sz9 didn't need to size up in these and I find they are much wider than my other shoes from Asics, Adidas and even other NB ones i wear.

      • Thanks! I hope it will fit me.

    • These are relatively wide for their size. Roomy toe box.

  • Would this be a good shoe for everyday walking, or, standing on your feet? Looking for a comfortable work shoe, will pass if just for running/training.

  • Are these available anywhere? Nothing in SE Qld that I can see.

  • How do these compare to nova blast 4

    • novablast 4 can be used for everyday wear.

fuel cell rebel v4 feels very weird when walking due to the rounded slope on the heel.

      • I wore my Rebel v4 on overseas trip, it was fantastic. Super light meant less stress on ankles on long walks. However you are using a running shoe/foam for daily walking is kinda…a waste.

Rebel has a pronounced mid foot foam support which can feel a little strange at first, but I have high arch so I actually appreciated it for normal walking.

Just get a NB Arishi at 1/3 the price if you are going to use it for commute. The FreshFoam in that is a lot more comfortable/softer.

      • novablast 4 can be used for everyday wear.

Man they are not cheap for the daily trainer

        • yeah… some people can afford it i guess.

  • +1

This is a great deal, plus you get $11 worth of rewards points. Very comfy shoe.

  • Wondering, am i doubling up on same type of shoes with this and endorphin speed 3s?

    • Maybe.

      https://youtu.be/FSvkum6xWZU?si=DZHKcltV6uKusoUh

Is comparison between ES4 (not 3) vs Rebel v4.

Even if it is, and you can still get one at your size, it's not a bad shoes to use after or mixed in with your rotation.

    • Both are tempo shoes.

  • RRP in US is $140 USD. You'd think that 140 USD is $200 AUD, but no, it's $232 AUD and they've priced this at $220 AUD RRP. Oh boy it's gna get tough.
