Same as Citi deal from few months ago.

I used trip -5% recently for flight bookings and was cheapest I could find (extensively searched kayak, skyscanner, etc)

    • Hi did Citi charge you fees for your trip bookings

      • No, and I have now used this method for 5 bookings.

  • Can you get Cashback on top of this from the usual ones?

    • Cashback illegible if used a code, so I guess it isn’t stackable

  • Isn’t it better to ShopBack when it is 10%+ on flights?

    • +2

Shopback may not track and doesn't include GST portion

      • Or any fees, which can make up more than half the price you pay

  • Keep in mind Expedia transactions can be slapped with International fees by NAB which happened with me twice and as per Expedia they can't guarantee if they bill in Australia or Overseas.
Both hotels were domestic Australia bookings billed in AUD but processed in USA.

    • Yeah NAB international transaction fees are kind of a joke

For Expedia, 10% off with CRW10 and 1.3% cashback is better. And you can use any card.

    • Can you explain? Does this code stack with cashback for hotels and flights both?

      • +3

CRW10 give you 10% off hotel booking on expedia, similar to this EXP10NAB code
but Cashrewards give you 1.3% cashback on top of that as well if you use code CRW10 in your booking, normally you get nothing if you book with promotion codes.

    • i love you, saved me $140

Warning: This code can only be used via the NAB's referral Trip.com link which will generate flight prices more expensive than going through Trip.com directly!

  • Accessed trip.com via Citibank link, entered promo code in the account, started booking from the promo code page and at the payment page, after my Citi Premier card was entered, got: "You have applied a promo code. This promo code cannot be used when using this card for payment. Please select a different payment method and try again."

    Live chat explanation:
"I have checked here and seek assistance, the reason why the promo code did not apply to the booking you're trying to purchased is because of the following reasons:
    1. Redemptions of the promo code are based on first-come, first-served basis as the quantity of limited-time offers in this promotion is limited. Due to limited quantity, your selected booking may be sold out on certain dates. If it happens, please book another date or flight."
    2. Trip.com reserves all rights to the final interpretation of this promotion."

False promotion. Should be reported to ACCC.

  • After a lot of back and forth with their customer service and technical department, I was able to use the code and "saved" a bit over $90 dollars on my flight booking. Since prices change daily because of currency exchange rates, my saving might not be a saving. Who knows? At least trip.com was the cheapest on Skyscanner at the time and $100 under what airlines were asking for. The bank did not charge international transaction fees.
To use the Citi offer (code AUSFLY5):
    1. Access trip.com via link on www1.citibank.com.au/credit-cards/benefits/premier and log into your account.
    2. On trip.com account drop down menu, click on Promo Codes
    3. Click on "Use now" next to "AUS outbound flights 5% OFF" and search for flights.
    4. Promo code will be automatically applied to booking. You will only be able to use it with a Citi credit card.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • Double check prices on regular Expedia or with cashback. Normally these types of discounts only work on already inflated prices.
