Huawei G300 ($134) - Locked to Vodafone

Hi,

After reading this post- http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/86650 I read about the Huawei G300 from Vodaphone for $134 (+ 10% cash back from Qwibble).

It was posted that it could be unlocked for free simply by visiting Vodaphone's site.

The phone arrived in the mail today, so I went to the site to unlock (https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv…) but it says I have to pay $75 to unlock it!

Do I have to register the phone first, activate the sim card it came with or something?

only the Sola can be unlocked for free.

you might be able to find cheap unlock codes on ebay for a few dollars

I was looking at this phone too, and I think I saw unlock instructions on Whirlpool.
This thread mentions $8 ebay unlock codes:

(although looking at the end of that thread I'm guessing you're mcfee03 over there!)
