Laptop for Low Code / No Code SaaS Build

Hey all, looking at getting into some no code/low code design for a couple of niche challenges, specifically for my work but also potential (maybe) to monetise. I got no idea how to code but keen to learn.

Tossing up these 2 machines but open to other suggestions. Am keen on snagging a deal.

Would either of these be suitable for mucking about with some low code / no code SaaS solutions?

  • Someone is buying into the AI hype

  • Most definitely. Find it super interesting, particularly for niche solutions major vendors cannot solve without customisation specific to my area of work.

FYI, the convention is customisation is when the vendor has to develop features in the software to do what you want to achieve, configuration is when the low code tools are configured to produce the results you are aiming for.
If you are looking at setting up a low code tool template to automate a business process in your industry niche, it is very likely you will not be doing customisation, just config. You probably don't need AI either, fwiw.

Most low code tools are fat JavaScript bundles, so extra ram is good, but 16 or 32gb will be fine.
Otherwise all it needs to run is chrome, so any kind of machine will be fine.

You probably already have a suitable computer.

    • Can confirm - I use an older model ThinkPad at my work, and we use a low-code platform. Would recommend 32GB RAM, 16GB can be a bit tight.

    why NO AMD options?

  • If you're going something like Microsoft's power platform, I'd just go a bunch of RAM. It's a lot of browser based stuff these days.

If you use chatgpt it's just going to recommend python and streamlit, which will again need RAM more than anything else

FYI, monetising these kind of things is REALLY hard. The difficulty isn't in building the app, it's supporting the users who have absolutely no idea what they're doing and are trying to use your tools.

  • if you are going hard into AI, maybe consider a newer processor, the TOPS (unit of measurement for AI processing) on these units is 13, however just a 2nd gen Intel Ultra processor or AMD AI processor will give you around 45-50 TOPS. Battery will also be better.
