Cheapest Long Expiry Plan (6/12 Month) on Telstra Network

Hi OZB,

Looking for the Cheapest Long Expiry Plan (6/12 Month) on Telstra Network.
Currently, on 130GB/$170 Boost plan expiring in 15 days, that doesn't seem to be around anymore.

In regional NSW and Optus struggles here, So stuck with Telstra.

What are my options here?

Comments

  • Port out then back into another cheap Boost plan?

    • cheap Boost plan?

      which ones are cheap?

  • Boost.

Go to kogan for like a month and port back

    • Telstra $39 SP, first 28 days for $13.

Better than Kogan 30 days for $10 for OP's need.

      • +1

But still technically on the Telstra network so i don't think it's classed as a port out.

        • Think that only matters if on a plan.
          Unless it's changed recently.

Ported from Telstra to Boost last year ( and back)
          Activated as a "new" client.

Hopefully someone that has done this recently might pipe up soon.

        • Between Telstra and Boost, I didn't receive the email with title "IMPORTANT - Port Out Notification", just "My first name, your activation is complete" from the end side.

    • What boost plan? cheapest is like $255

  • Assuming you're in Telstra Wholesale coverage area and outgoing calls usage and data is low then

    ALDI $5 PAYG, plus a $95 30Gb (365 day) data plan

Otherwise look for a discounted Telstra Prepaid SIM and jump between Boost and Telstra to keep getting their new user discounts.
(noting the downside that churning between Boost and Telstra has historically been a PITA, dunno what it's like these days)

    • I do need a make calls and those can be long. So not really fit for purpose.

  • If Optus is no good kogan etc will be similar

So likely just have to port to Telstra for a month
Unless everyday mobile has a deal ATM ?

    Then ported back to Boost.

Time to look for cheap prepaid sim for both.

    • on hunt for a good deal on boost, seems like there aren't any atm.

  • At this point, this seems my only option https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/900378
    with a $10 Lebara to port-out to

    • +1

It is about whether the transitional SIM will be used effectively or not. Lebara's network may not suit your location. If you will be on Lebara for only a few hours, Telstra $2 does the same job.
