Dell Laptop Duplicate Characters Keyboard Issue

Hi.

I really like my lappy but the keyboard is messing around with duplicate ee's and dd's. Is it repairable or what is the best cheap alternative?

This is my current setup… Dell Inspiron 15 5510 with 11th Gen Intel i7-113390H 3.4GHz 4 cores.

Can anyone help please. Any ideas are appreciated.

I recommend you look up a disassembly guide for your laptop and see how easy it is to replace keyboard. If you're comfortable with it, try to take it apart and clean up any dust/dirt/food stuck in there and make sure the keyboard connector is secure.

I found this video, good luck

    • Thanks..my skills aree not in anyway reliablee, id almost certainly destroy it :)

Buy a keyboard. If it needs to be portable, buy a small keyboard.

    Something like this:

or if you wanted wireless maybe:

Getting the same problem with multiple characters using the inbuilt keyboard on a recently bought second hand Dell 2 in 1. Ran Windows Update and manually updated keyboard drivers in Device manager - no help as the same drivers from 2006 were installed again. Plugged in external keyboard and it worked fine. Have gone to Settings and been fiddling with keyboard settings under Accessibility > Keyboard > Filter keys - inconsistent results so far. Might have to send the unit back to the seller unless some genius here has an answer.

    • Why bother? send it back asap to swap or refund.

Install Linux. Edit the keyboard driver to increase the de-bounce interval. Recompile kernel. Probleem solved.

Otherwise, remove keyboard, clean it. If that fails, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/116217738576

Either grab an air spray can and blast under the keys or grab some tooth floss and floss around under the keys ;)

You can go into Windows Settings and lengthen the amount of time Windows takes to register double keys:
    https://winaero.com/change-keyboard-repeat-delay-and-rate-in…

Or, if savvy, just install AutoHotKey and script it to replace multiple key presses with singles (did that for an old lenovo wife was using for emails) …

Use about 100ms as the "KeyPriority" in the AHK script …

If none of those work nor are appealing, then consider repair / replace :P

My logitech mx key also has similar issue when using it without power cable plug in.
With constant charging, the issue disappear… so weird…

    JJuusstt ggeett uusseedd ttoo iitt!!

Or pry off the keys and clean underneath. Check for a Youtube video to be sure how (if) that can be done with your specific model.
