I am thinking of getting a cellular Apple Watch, and so far I have 2 options. A refurbished 41mm GPS + cellular silver series 8, or a brand new 44mm Apple Watch SE 2. I know that they were both released at the same time, but the series 8 has more features(ECG, temperature, Always on display, etc.) I am now thinking about getting the series 8 instead solely because of the always on display. The only thing that is stopping me from buying it is the fact it’s refurbished. Are there any visible problems with refurbished products?Does anybody have any experience with refurbished apple products?

Whatever you do, don't buy an Apple watch claimed as "refurbished" from the Kogan site.
dont be a cheap skate your watch should last you 10+ years, get an Ultra 2 when its on sale, or time it with an overseas trip and get 10% and a further 10% of with stacking gift cards. Otherwise don't get a watch at all or one of those cheap Temu ones for $80

For a proper fashion watch maybe, not for a smartwatch that's gonna be old tech in 3-4 years
my apple watch ultra gen1. is 2 years going 3 , I have no need for ultra gen2 , if a gen 3 came out this year there would be no reason to upgrade. I reckon it will go well beyond 10 years, the 10 core functions is unlikely to change in the next 7 years. and by that time it will be a perfect hand me down for a child or a teenager.
Is that similar to people replaceding phone every year?

Absolutely fair. I got my refurb Ultra last year for $710 and am very happy with it, had to "upgrade" because my S4 battery was starting to annoy me, had it for 6 years and sold it for $150 to offset the cost of the refurb
still waiting for loop mobile on ebay , their refurb ultras havent had a 20% off promo in ages :(

To answer your q, go for the S8 and refurb is good minus the box, hence, potential lower resell value/demand in the future.
Even better get the s8 45mm gps, you don't need cellular
s8, but if theres one without cellular for much cheaper, id go that.
i have an s7 and always thought id upgrade to the ultra 2 black edition with the milanese strap - but idk…got so many better things to waste $1500+ on, and the 7 does everything i could ever want.
SE 2 doesn't have always on display, so between those two you should get the refurbished. Check Facebook marketplace though, you may find a stainless steel Watch even cheaper.

If you are talking about the official Apple refurb store the products are indistinguishable from retail, some argue better due to the more detailed testing process the product goes through, the only thing you will lack is the "retail" box.
