Spoke to these guys at a board game expo… Seem like a decent bunch.
Have also purchased from their online store before. No issues, very quick postage!

Usually this site is a bit overpriced, but the 20% off brings a lot of the prices to a good level, and one or two I searched randomly came up cheapest out of the aussie sites I know of. Feeling neutral good about this one.

They have Agricola in stock for a decent price after discount.

    • what other websites would you recommend?
I know games are often over priced here in Australia, but these guys seem to have a good range of products, so with discount, might be good especially for local delivery.

      • They are based in Sydney; from my past orders they have delivered via fastway in sydney metro, and deliver via express post/fastway to metro areas of other states. so reasonably quick order time, unless the item is out of stock lol.

        Check these guys out: http://milsims.com.au/

Agreed Milsims is usually my go to Aussie board game shop, though Ozgameshop and Amazon have been the last places I've bought games from. If you're in luck, sometimes you can even use Booko.com.au to compare the prices available, as some book stores have a range of board games in stock.

Looking through their prices for the games I want from 2012, even with the discount GamesParadise doesn't come out on top for any I'm interested in. There's one that I'm borderline on, if it wasn't for postage I'd get it.

          Another upvote for milsims.
bookdepository.com also has some board games (fantasy flight) with free delivery at good prices.

Man, didn't realise Ozgameshop's range included board games now… pricing seems very good. Using a game on my wishlist, Eclipse is $84.00 there compared to $89 via Amazon and >$100 from local sites. So tempting…

        • this is much cheaper without the discount codes

Gamesempire.com.au is my preferred Sydney local (based in Castle Hill), pricing pretty much on par with Milsims.

Also, if anyone interested in trading/buying 2nd hand board games, I've got a thread on BGG

It really depends on what you (and your board game group) are interested in. There are a couple that I bought earlier on in the year that I enjoyed and would recommend: Risk Legacy, and Lords of Waterdeep (note these or some below could be from the end of 2011). Recently I've ordered The Castles of Burgundy and Last Will, and if I can find a price I'm willing to buy at/when I get the money, I'll likely get Android: Netrunner, and Seasons. I've also heard good things about Eclipse, and Mage Knight, though these are a bit more expensive, and due to my gaming group probably wouldn't be worth me getting.

Of course your interests could be completely different and none of this helps at all. Also you'd probably be better off looking at, or at least comparing prices with some of the sites recommended above, as even with the discount you can likely find a better bargain, at the very least you will for the games I've listed.

+1 to Lords of Waterdeep, great light Euro game and was perfect for introducing players to the genre. First weekend I had it, played for 14 hours O_o

More recently, big fan of Kingdom Builder and 7 Wonders! So much so that I've still got a a half dozen games that are yet to be opened… so many games, so little time

        • All great games for easing yourself off monopoly and on to 'real' games that are actually fun ;)

I'd also recommend Infiltration for a fairly light but fun sci-fi game. Push-your-luck style mechanics set in the future as you break into a megacorporation and compete with a bunch of other thieves to try and steal the most data files. The further into the building you go, the more files you can get, but the harder it is to get out again before the security guards arrive…

      • Thanks for the suggestions. Will look into them!

  • No MTG? But that's all the best stuff!

  • Thanks for the link! Used to be into fantasy board games.

I can't seem to find local versions of series called 'Dark World'.

Anyone know if they're still available in Australia?

  • I can recommend Bang! (card game) Settlers of Catan and Elder Signs. That'll give you a good mix for a games night.

I recommended these guys for a while.

Then my friend placed multiple orders that were in stock and took weeks to send out or get responses on. Buyer beware. If they can't give prompt service, and you're paying more, just go to milsims or games empire where they give a damn.

    Very disappointing.

  • I won't shop with them. I had previously bought a number of games online from them. Then they had a 25% off stocktake sale a couple of years ago, and (for however I was going to pay) they said on their site I had to email them first before they could apply the discount. I emailed but they didn't reply. I had the items in my cart. I emailed them again. Still no reply. I still had the items in my cart. The sale ended. Still no reply. I emailed twice more over the following weeks. Still not one reply. I emailed one last time about a year ago. They still didn't get back to me. Not once. Why would I want to do business with them when Milsims are so good & have better prices? Milsims shipped quickly before Christmas. I was very impressed!

    • I guess every store has their hits and misses. I personally won't shop from Milsims cos they ripped me off $40 years ago. Usual story, ordered something, turns out they didn't have it in stock, promised to refund and never did.

      • Milsims have been 99% great for me and my mates, ever since I started buying bulk Vampire CCG cards back in 1995. However, over the last 6 months or so the time they take to actually send items out the door for me and my mates has been slipping and slipping, with other places online actually starting to get close to milsims prices and be competitive from that angle, too.

So they're no longer my #1 go-to place. I'll still buy from them, but just not with the absolute confidence that I used to.
