Recommendations for Pathway Solar Lights - Super Bright 200 lumens or more

I'm looking to brighten up my very dark backyard and need recommendations for very bright pathway solar lights, ideally 200 lumens or more.

I want lights that are reliable, durable, and powerful enough to clearly illuminate walkways at night. They should be easy to install, weather-resistant, and last long.

Any suggestions for specific brands or models that excel in these conditions would be great!

Thanks gang and happy Sunday

These are by far the best solar lights I’ve had:

Have several running solid for years. They’re not pretty but I don’t rate any of the cheap post-style solar lights with tiny patches and batteries.

I’ll grab some this week to try. I’ve tried a bunch of solar security lights from Amazon and had varying success . Most crap out within a year, clearly not built to survive Australian UV levels. The last one I took down practically fell apart in my hands lol. Maybe these ones I’ll preemptively pull apart and reseal with sikaflex before install.

Sounds good. Grab some Command strips on the way. You’ll need two on top of each other for sufficient thickness to adhere to wall. Have had no issues staying on brick wall.

    • I have those too. They're quite good. But this time I want something that have light all night long, not just motion

    • Is it cold white?? Bought a spotlight at Bunnings last week for $27.50 and so disappointed to find it is a cold white. Spoils the whole ambience of the garden. Then I found the exact same item on Temu and you can get 2 for less than $20 (actually more like $10 with coupons or cashback) with an option for cold or warm white.

  • What sort of mounting do you want? In ground, on posts, stuck on the fence?

200lumens doesnt mean much either. Do you want directional lighting or just some general area lighting?

Weve had a few different types. They dont seem to last terribly well, although the solar sensor light over our bins has been running for aboht 8years and was only a cheaper from Aldi. Its not uber bright, just enough to see what you're doing. Wouldn't be an awesome security light.

    • I just want something simple, stuck in ground and last long with strong light

      • Few of the store bought 'stuck in the ground' ones are very bright, but you can get ones (like the bunnings one linked above) and make your own support posts (eg: wooden garden stake as the upright and then put a cross piece of outdoor plywood that is just big enough to be the backing ie big enough so you can screw the lights onto them).

Another option is one like this temu example where you mount it to the top of a thicker upright (eg get a 5cm square post, or thereabouts, and screw the light onto the top of that) or a thinner upright with some backing screwed onto it horizontally)

You can get solar lights off temu and aliexpress and they are pretty good on the whole, but of course you dont have the returns policy

You wont find a cheap solar light that will be on all night - they just dont have the charge capacity, most cap out at 4-6 hours of continual light from a full charge (which assumes it can get a full charge). If you want an all night light then you need to look at some of the more expensive and larger options, like https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-5w-integrated-solar-powere…

honestly i think you may need to consider running a proper low voltage circuit

        • (just so u know this can be totally in the realm of DIY too assuming theres a power point you can access somewhere)

all u need if you want to make it super diy is

some of these crimp gel connectors - or if you're handy with solder, soldering and resin heat shrink goes good too. (if you look up any other brand of crimp connector, triple check your cable will fit!)

garden cable to suit (bunnings got 30m rolls, or look up places that sell 100m drums)

transformer to suit your fittings. (I personally prefer 24vdc, but 12vdc ok if your run is short too) - you will want one with a flex and plug, and a powerpoint somewhere you can just plug into.
use this voltage calculator to work out which gauge cable you need

garden fittings to suit your taste/requirement (ensure transformer is compatible) - i personally recommend getting something that takes g4 bipin, or mr16 lamps. So much easier to re-lamp, than it is to faff around with taking out a fitting and putting a new one back in the circuit.

  • I recommend JESLED landscape spotlights from Amazon. Been using the same set of lights for 4 years and still going strong. Reasonably priced as well.

    • That looks great. Thank you
