Don’t worry Australia, we’re not going anywhere.

Hmm your parent company thinks a bit differently.

Collins Foods are just the franchisee.
I think they are alluding that Taco Bell USA will take over the sites or resell the operation, that's what's been reported in the media. They ultimately own the brand in Au.

Thats not what your link says…
Just Collins Foods exiting from Taco Bell here.
Hence this FREE TACO promo as reassurance 🌮

Local franchisee of overseas fast food chains, Collins Foods is looking for a buyer for its Taco Bell operation here. (And expand its KFC stores in Germany.)

Lots of discussion online after their media release days ago. But really only of interest to business community.

"Discussions are currently underway with Taco Bell International (TBI) regarding a potential transition of the business to new ownership," Collins Foods said in a statement.
"Collins Foods intends to complete the transition within the next 12 months"

So if successful, Taco Bell won't be exiting Australia. Just not owned by Collins Foods

    • WRONG!

      It's just a business decision…
Requiring a buyer for Taco Bell Australia & negotiations with Taco Bell International.
It's why your link is to Reuters business section!

Selling doesn't mean the end of Taco Bell here!
But because some are now claiming it is, have a FREE TACO as reassurance 🌮

Franchisee Collins Foods are getting out of their 27 Taco Bell franchises here - within a year.
Its a very minor part of their business. Not large enough chain for them & not that profitable.

Concentrating on their profitable & much better known KFC stores (272 here).
Expending the number of their overseas KFC stores (currently 62 in Netherlands & 16 in Germany).

    Cheaper than laxatives!

For real though, Guzman has gone to shit, Zambrero has only ever been fine, I'd like if there were more competition in fast food burritos tbh. Pls don't go the way of Carl's Jr.

Poor old Mad Mex missed the Expansion Boom GYG had :(

Salsas, always overlooked, is the best of the lot

        • +1

I miss Salsas, there was one near work and I probably had it once a week, but they closed a long time ago.

        • +1

I love Salsa's, but dear god they're expensive these days!

Only one left in Sydney. They kept reducing the size of meals to the point no one went back.

        • It used to be.

    • I just had the burrito Taco Bell and their range has so much cream and less toppings: beans, salads etc compared to GYG

      • GYG has salads?…last time i had a burrito from them it was all rice and beans a bit of chicken.

Nice spot OP! Has anyone had a chance to pop in to Taco Bell to claim the free taco yet? In the FB post it stated TnCs apply which is fair enough but I can't find what these details are. Anyone has any ideas?

Third rate version of the American restaurants at triple the price, it will fail.

Is it REALLY Taco Bell if you don’t get massive diarrhoea afterwards?

      • +2

        Such a tired joke..

And reasonable anti-American sentiment atm. None of us grew up with Taco Bell and have much love and affection for it. Who would want to buy it.

Went in store was able to get taco. Similar taste to US taco bells.

  • Got one in Sydney Central
    Thanks OP
