WiFi printer.

Hi, my Epson all in 1 printer died after just 2 years. I don't want an Epson anymore because of this shocking quality, not to mention the 4 separate ink cartridges costing $23 each.

So I was thinking maybe a Brother or another brand? Just an inkjet colour scan/copy/printer will do. I don't use it that often and also I don't print photo's on it either. Needs to have WiFi though….
I would prefer if the cartridges can be refilled or replaced with generic that don't cost too much.

Looking for under $100,- So can someone recommend me a brand/model that would do the basics for me at a decent price?

Thanks in advance :o)

  • Yep Epson is terrible, last printer from them didn't even last that long, and the 'charging' of the ink tanks every chance it got to waste all the ink was disgraceful (have a canon, had an hp before the epson, neither of these companies did it TO THE EXTENT that the Epson garbage did).

I would recommend getting a cheap near new wi-fi all-in-one for $50 or so on ebay, and buying a continuous ink system from mir-aus or rihac, it will cost a little over $100 for the system but will save you possibly thousands on replacement ink.

O god why am I here giving advice to strangers, I have things to do lel!

  • I've been using the "Brother HL 2270DW B/W Laser printer" for a while now and although the laser cartridges are quite expensive, they last a LONG time and it's a nice little unit. - The WiFi is also super convenient.

It was under $100 when I got it last year so I'm sure there are cheaper deals or even newer models out since then.

  • I recommend a printer that supports AirPrint, to allow iPhone / iPad printing.

I quite like the HP OfficeJet printers, quite good value, lots of features (e.g. AirPrint); and much lower ink cost than almost every other inkjet printer.

  • +1

Hmmmm I don't do anything "i" so those kind of features are irrelevant to me. I'm an android user ;o)

pfpozbargain, near new printer off ebay….. What brand am I looking for in your opinion?

Benicio that model does black and white only. I am looking for a colour all in one….. Though I have not tried a Brother yet, so will put that on my list of possible brands.

I had an HP printer once and it lasted as long as the Epson did. Though this was about 6 years ago. Maybe they have improved over time?

So I have Brother and HP to look for. Now just the model….. I'll also google continuous ink systems….

  • Grays online has lexmark pro715 for $39 + 14.95 (postage). Reviews for this printer are pretty good. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks, will look into the HP and Brother. I finally have time to do some research today. I need to get a new printer this weekend :o)

  • HP sold out. Bummer. Looked like a great printer. I just rang the guys I usually go to for cartridges and they told me that HP is the only brand that has cartridges that can be refilled easily. So HP it is right now.
Now I just need the right model :o\

  • +1 for a brother inkjet with wifi. Generic ink cartridges should be cheap.

  • Lexmark looks good. I already got the HP5520, but it was $94 unfortunately. However, my parents brother died just out of warranty. A shame as they had just put a new black cartridge in it for $18,- (generic).

I'll check for reviews on the Lexmark and if it's any good, I'll get it for my parents. Depends on how dear the cartridges are ofcourse and if it takes generic ones.

Thanks for the help everyone! It's very much appreciated! :o)
