4-port USB charger (AU / multiple countries)

Anybody know where I can get a decent wall charger that has 4 USB sockets on it so I can charge multiple devices from one outlet? Even better if it ships with various plugs (like got travel snapin plugs with it or something).

Be good if anyone can refer to one they have experience of and are happy with the time it takes to charge a couple of phones and a tablet, say. I know my tablet needs 10W (5V@2A) and some of the chargers out there drop their output when multiple devices are connected. Willing to pay good money for a good unit that can handle parallel charging of a few devices at a time.

Many thanks.

Did a quick search and found this:

Kingston is a reputable brand and this seems satisfy your criteria?

    • Looks good to me!! Thanks.

      • Thats kenginton not kingston

        • Apologies, I mean't Kensington.

    • Does it disturb anyone that there is not an AU adapter for the wall socket in any of the pictures for this device?

  • I've been thinking about importing these to sell for about $10 or so, not sure if there is enough demand for them though

    • Depending on price I'm sure there would be. Normally if a couple goes away there's at least two phones, not to mention the possibility of a kindle, tablet, digital camera, mp3 player. If there's kids involved then tack on another couple of devices such as a games console, extra phone or mp3 player etc. Providing they give out decent output - enough to charge an iPad or Nexus7/10 say along with a few phones - I'd expect them to sell pretty well once people hear of them. The necessity of 'travel plugs' on them might not be needed by too many folk but can't hurt I guess.

Even just about the house it'd be good to have one plug which would charge 4 of your devices all in the one place. I've got chargers all over the place for the number of devices I have.

      • I'll have to look into it, it's a matter of sourcing at the right price of course

There is a demand. However, even if you could find a supplier of the Kensington ones and then import them, you will not be able to sell them in Australia or NZ - as Kensington will not permit you to use their C-Tick.

There are similar items (very similar) available to import, but you will have obtain your own compliance as the importer and maintain a compliance register.

  • according to officeworks (see Q&A by team member) it will only tickle charge an ipad, this implies that the 2A is shared among 4 ports

this is better but out of stock

Correct, and only intermittently at that. I have two 4-port chargers and had a friend's original iPad here for a week or so - I had to resort to an original Apple charger.

  • This Kensington model can only do two at a time, but can do two iPads at 2.1A:

The block is a touch wide. Comes with on Apple 30-pin Dock Connector cable. The wall plug is detachable, but the version I have only has the AU plug.

Yup, there is also one (a 2-Port USB charger) from Belkin.
