Does Anyone Make an Inexpensive 920mm Wide Security Door?

I'm shopping for a security door - the door needs to be 2040mm (standard height) x 920mm wide, out in Melbourne's east.

If it was 820mm wide I could go to Bunnings and get something for $200-$300, but as it's 920mm wide, every place I've spoken to (3 so far) says it's a "custom" size, and are quoting approx $1500 - albeit including installation.

I'm a bit surprised that 920mm is "custom" for a security door, as it's a common size - I can buy off the shelf 920mm front doors from Bunnings… but no one mass produces a security door in that size? Bizarre.

Hoping someone has come across a 920mm security door option that isn't $1500.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers

Crim Safe will make security door to size you require.
From my experience, order to install was a little over 1 week
Price ….it is what it is when you need a custom door made.

    • Did you go to Crim Safe directly? I have a Crim Safe dealer coming out to quote, theyโ€™re ball parking it close to $1500.

Check out Jayee Screens. I found their sticker on my screen and security doors. They did a lot of the flyscreens for my place and very reasonably priced with different options and price levels. Bit of a hike, but good savings. https://www.jayeescreens.com.au

    • Cheers - Iโ€™m likely in their service area, Iโ€™ll give them a ring.

I had two sliding screens with "pet mesh" and a front security door (invisi-gard) made from this guy. It was 4-5 years ago and I don't remember the price, but all three were custom sizes and he was fantastic. We've had zero issues with any of the doors since. He's based in Lysterfield.

I've referred him several times to mates/family and they've all been happy.

Bayside doors in western suburbs of melb made and fitted mine down in Geelong. Custom door and fixed module at the top of the door to allow opening outside as it had patio rafters below eave height. Circa $1,100 installed.

Cant remember the door width, but I'm sure its more than 920mm - its a wide back door and cos of the eave, had to be custom made.

So the door was a success!

We joked that the door was a sign of a house worth the hassle

    • The crimsafe installer told me the same when I was asking about our three door stacker actually. Basically wondered why it was only two panels and not the third one as well and he simply told me they'd go to the window if we did three (which we weren't looking at security for). I feel it's just a matter of making it too troublesome for the opportunist thieves but if someone really wants in, they'll find a way

lateral think your problem, if you want to cheap out :P

Narrow your door jamb by 100mm with a strip of wood from bunnings and pick up the security screen door whilst you're there.

I used https://www.valescosecuritydoors.com.au to custom make my doors. Michael was super friendly and price was reasonable (I had mine done last year). I bought some yale smart locks on sale through amazon, he custom made the door and installed my locks. intent was to do just the front door but ended up getting all 3 doors done.

Then he saw me working on the car, went home, got his tools and helped me out the car for another 5 hours :P
