I bought an S24 for $433 after trade deal etc. in March.
I also got an S24plus for $593.
They are last year's model, but pretty good phones and a lot less money.
I know everyone's hating on Apple here, and lots of people are saying how much cheaper/better the Samsung "S" series are… but a serious and genuine question, how long do Samsung provide software updates for their phones?
Last month, Apple released security updates for IOS 15, 16, 17 and 18. The iPhone 6S (from 2015) runs IOS 15, which means a ~10 year old phone is still receiving security updates. Does Samsung support their phones as long as Apple does?
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is promised to receive software updates for seven years, including seven generations of operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates.
Who keeps their phone for 10 years though? Times have changed so it's completely unnecessary.
I'm still using my iPhone 7 which I've had for 8 years, so not far off.
My wife still uses her iPhone 8 as main/only phone which is getting close

Yes - Samsung continues to provide essential security updates to older phones, much the same as Apple.
Apple might provide 10 years of updates but no chance in hell a 10 year old iPhone would be in any way functional.
Why not? Still use my iPhone 7 bought in 2016 so don’t see why one bought only a year earlier wouldn’t also function fine. Just need to replace the battery like most phones after 5 years and it’s fine.

An IPhone 16 128gb came out to be $867.
The changed it to be 1300 off now.

Debatable. The 15 has a better screen (higher maximum brightness, Dynamic Island), better cameras (larger sensor, better OIS, ultra wide lens), and better charging (15W MagSafe and Qi2).
Except the 16e has a worse display, worse camera system, no magsafe, half speed wireless charging and no ultrawide chip vs 15.
I guess lots of iphone stock from china until they move to india as long as the tariff is in place.
For those who upgrade due to part issue, maybe try Ali parts as done by this guy.
I will never buy an indian made iPhone.
