Lebara 360-Day 260GB Prepaid Mobile Plan $179 (Was $250, New Customers Only) Delivered @ Lebara

I was searching for attractive long-expiry mobile plans and found this offer. It stands out as one of the few plans available in the market that includes free unlimited international calls to several countries.

I haven’t used Lebara recently. Any reviews or feedback please?

I’m moved from boost and currently using Lebara 360 day plan 20Gb plan for nearly 2 months in Brisbane. Purchased from last Woolworths promotion. It’s quite bad in reception overall. In my suburb which had weak mobile signal already but it has Lebara wifi to cover mobile calls at home. However I can’t receive any good signal in CBD area within office if I sit inside meeting room. It wasn’t the case if I using boost/ kogan / amaysim. I would not recommend it unless you are only use it in open area that can receive strong signals. I definitely move out when the plan expires :(

Kogan & Lebara both use Vodafone. Their coverage should be the same.

      • Kogan is 4G only, likely 5G is causing the problem (I’ve experienced the same).

        • 5G can be disabled in the phone settings.

Bad idea to not give the full 365 days…

  • You missed the Vodafone one for $150 for the $320 pack.

    • No international calls in Vodafone.

      • International calls
6000 mins to Zone 1 1200 mins to Zone 2.

      • Why not use WhatsApp?

        • Because some people make calls to landlines or to the areas where internet connectivity isn't awesome.

Btw, I have tried both and I must say quality of voice/sound is much better when you call directly and not through WhatsApp.

With Lebara you don't get all the data immediately. You get the data every 30 days which can then data bank.

This specific plan has access to 5g and free calls to selected international numbers.

Worst reception of a network ever. Don’t waste your money.
If you still wanna try, try their 1 month prepaid first.

    • +2

Isn’t it same network as Vodafone?

    • +3

Vodafone is actually better than Telstra where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

    • -1

Your need to quotes the locations and the type of mobile phone used. If the same equipment wasn't used when you swap provider how can you be sure the mobile phone isn't the problem?

In fact the specific cell tower would be better.

      • Used on multiple phones and Lebara was the worst service we had ever seen, switched to Telstra/Optus based networks for multiple family members and worked all good. Perhaps its the terrible vodafone in our area then. Northern Suburb Vic.

Old news. Since Optus and Voda combined their regional networks there's a vast improvement.

      • Still pretty much sucks in our area. A friend tried lebara last week and regretted right away.

  • 360 days, get stuffed Lebara.

    • It's surprising they shrunk a year by 5 days because their monthly SIMS are still 30 days, not 28 like a lot of the others.

      • +1

        360 ends up been 30 x 12.

28 days ends up costing you around an additional recharge a year. Give or take a couple of days.

We used Lebara in the past and no problems. Sydney cbd and South Sydney with occasional trips to Ulladulla mostly. Currently 3 of the family sims are on Vodafone and Kogan. Again no problems.

  • I am about to try one of my devices on Lebara for a month, porting the number from boost tomorrow.

I known it uses Vodafone but do they have access to the full network or only a restricted portion? Seems to be lots of people saying it's worse then normal Vodafone or Kogan.

Idk what the hate is - I was on boost, tested optus + voda for 1 month each, found voda better at my frequent visits. No difference voda to lebara for me so don't think restricted

    • +1

      Not restricted.

For the reception of network, I am really disappointed to switch from catch to boost. originally I want to try Telstra network and expect it should be the best! However I always get no data connection for the place I usually go. So it is really up to where you locate and I can’t wait to switch back to Optus or even Vodafone!

I initially tried Vodafone for a month before switching to Lebara.
With Vodafone’s recent network improvements, I noticed a significant boost in speed and signal strength, which gave me the confidence to commit to a 360-day plan with Lebara, thinking I’d get the same quality.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.

Lebara’s network performance has been extremely disappointing. While driving through Melbourne’s CBD and heading towards the northern suburbs, my calls frequently become choppy, and the internet often drops to 4G or even disconnects entirely. In areas like Northcote, Thornbury, Preston, and Epping places relatively close to the city.
I’ve seen the signal fall to 3G, and at times, I can’t even make a simple phone call.

I’ve essentially locked myself into a year long plan with one of the worst networks I’ve used.
Consider this a warning: buyer beware.

    • Why was this negged? Someone sharing their experience.

      • I guess some people either work for lebara or are die-hard fans for some reason.

    • I’ve seen the signal fall to 3G, and at times, I can’t even make a simple phone call.

How long ago was this? Vodafone were the first to switch off their 3G, well over a year ago.

FWIW, I have services on all three networks, and for where I live (Canberra, south side), I'd rate them Telstra > Vodafone > Optus. For the places that I travel to outside of Canberra, I'd rate them Telstra > Optus > Vodafone. Of course, YMMV.

If your data is dropping from 5G to 4G, then it's not the service itself. It's the cell towers underperforming.

Where I live (SE Melb), I'm in a 5G blackspot so I force my phone to be 4G only and I have no issues. By forcing 4G, it also saves power because your phone isn't trying to constantly attempt to connect to 5G and waste more power!

Might be something to consider :)

  • Anyone from Adelaide/South Australia have feedback with Lebara network?

Thinking about switching. Currently with Voda and 12 mths will be up.

    Thanks in advance.
