I think possible ATL for the 81cm (not sure though) , only blue lagoon colour, a bit heavy at 4.5-4.8kg but I believe it’s a good deal, there’s the navy blue one for $299 , RRP is $499 (would never pay this much for a suitcase)

Good deal for Samsonite, but I just bought this an hour ago for $170 (regular price), seems to be same material and features.

Was going to cancel and order this deal but since both are polypropylene I'll just stick with it.

    • And almost 500-800gr lighter which is good imo

    • Important to note the build quality of the wheels handles zips are very pretty high on this particular samsonite model. Also the warranty is 10y vs 5y.

In case anyone is concerned about this being slightly oversize, no airline is actually going to care about the exact dimensions of checked luggage that still looks like a standard suitcase.

As long as the bag is not cartoonishly oversized, even the likes of Jetstar aren't going to care or check that your bag is 170cm vs 160cm total dimensions.

Bought this one last prime day for $269 and have traveled to Japan with Jetstar earlier this year. I didn't have any issue with the airline at the time.

These days, I wouldn’t buy a suitcase above 160cm in combined measurements.
Lots of budget and domestic airlines have that as a cutoff. Japan trains have the same limit.
Best to purchase 158cm and under.

    • Agree with this the 75cm oct2lite fits in shinkansens in the overhead compartment.

not worth risking getting hit by an oversize fee imo
    e.g.

An item of baggage must not exceed dimensions of 158 cm (width + height + depth).

    • I was similarly concerned when I bought a pair of these for my wife and I late last year. However, my fairly extensive research indicated that airlines police the weight and not the size for CHECKED baggage. On board baggage is definitely a different proposition. I had a Jetstar trip lined up and even found a link where they confirmed in writing that it was ok. I've since flown several international Jetstar flights to Thailand and Japan, and several domestic flights in Thailand and Japan with the luggage. In all instances, they never looked twice at the size but of course weighed the luggage. To be fair, we purposely booked the special luggage section at the back and front of the train when using the Shinkansen in Japan as we knew in advance that we weren't going to be putting it in the overhead storage (and didn't want to break a back trying to do so either).

Naturally, I am not vouching for ALL flights and airlines around the world, but I note that this not an uncommon sized luggage carried by passengers. As always, your mileage (lol) may vary!

  • For everyone worrying about the size, you ll be fine. However what you will need to worry about is the weight. Most airlines especially going to EU are restricting it to 23kg per bag so really no use in having a large suitcase. Asia Pacific is still at 32kg per bag.

Every time i hear Samsonite, I think of dumb and dumber. Every time.

Thanks OP - in need of a new suitcase and decided to buy the 75cm from Samsonite official website. They currently have 40% off, and Qantas has 7 points per $1 spent at Samsonite. I bought 2 x 75cm cases for total $502.2, and get 3515 qantas points with it (about $70 worth at 2c per point).

    • Eh, what did I miss mate?

Samsonite website has the OC2Lite 75cm at $465, making 2 of them $930. Apply the 40% discount gives a price of $558.

No criticism, just wondering how you got that better price?

PS, QANTAS offers free metro delivery for all orders over $49. :)

Sorry forgot to mention using coupon HONEYSAVE10 for extra 10% off. Samsonite also has free delivery.

  • I just bought this and I thinks its a much better deal (especially if you can get a good cashback). Much more durable material and lighter.

  • At that price I’d pay an extra $50 for a Travelpro…

    • How do we make pleather even worse? 100% Recycled plastic leather.
Whats wrong with PP or PC like the samsonite bags?
      What is the warranty like?

      • Huh? This is a soft-sided bag made of polyester like all the others.

Travelpro (at least the elite & platinum range) are super highly rated bags, but warranty in Aus would have to be via Amazon.

Samsonite is probably a safer bet locally if you expect to be making a warranty claim.

  • I’m currently in the market for a suitcase. How does this case compare quality wise to say, an Antler like this one?

    https://www.antler.com.au/products/stamford-large-lugagge-bl…

    • +1

no personal experience but from looking at the website I like the look of the Antler better, the interior pockets and also their lifetime warranty. I suspect they're in a similar tier of luggage etc.

Antler has a positive reputation but Samsonite seems to be hit or miss (perhaps down to the exact line you purchase though, I believe this is one of their more premium options)

      • Thanks allot for your thoughts, I was thinking along the same line. Samsonite is a household name, but I’ve heard good things on here about Antler.
