Any Recommendations for Energy Retailers in NSW Atm?

Statement: It should be a banned practice of giving new customers a deal and then reverting them to a crappy higher rate!!

Alas, I cant change the practice and I need to switch again - Any recommendations??

wattever.com.au is a good site to compare prices.

Given there are 3 distribution networks in NSW any specific recommendations are probably useless.

Statement: It should be a banned practice of giving new customers a deal and then reverting them to a crappy higher rate!!

Outcome: They'd just start at the crappy higher rate, and we'd lose the savings from churning.

  • I totally agree that companies should be looking to create loyalty, not promote disloyalty. Having to jump ship every time you renew a contract is annoying. All the administration connected with customer changes must create costs.

The Aussie electricity grid is complex. Depending on where you live, you get different rates. Find a comparison site. Be wary of .com sites that put promoted rates at the top. Also be wary that a lot of comparison sites are commercial and may have a relationship with a particular supplier, and omit some competitors rates. I used https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/

When you do switch, you are highly likely to receive a call from your current supplier offering a better rate.

  • Just keep churning.

Engie, powershop, origin (via one big switch) and agl all have signup credit offers of around $200, use cashrewards / econnex to get additional cashback or gift cards.

I have been paid to consume electricity for over 12 months now and I don't have solar or a home battery (decided there's no point getting them unless churning stops being profitable)

  • There are some good deals in NSW. You can't sign up to them because you are in a different distribution zone but you are only after vague prices for all of NSW so I hope this helps.

FYI your post is about as useful as asking what a good electricity plan is for my house in Australia.
